Why bother with any gold accent, simple is better, as mentioned earlier only available for about 40 minutes to gold mc, it's now awaiting stock

Quote: Now that I've been able to see the details, I wonder how other SD collectors view this offering. Does it compliment your collector or do you see this as something other than a SD? Have it or let it pass by? I collect the traditional 36mm SDs. So, for me, this new coin is not needed to keep my set complete. I view it the same way I view the many silver 26.5mm "Loonie" dollar coins (or the 38mm 2012 colourized Two Loons SD) - while they may be silver dollars, they're a separate series from the set of silver dollars minted per the original 36mm specification (first used in 1935). I will be letting this one pass me by.

Thanks commens. Knowing your commitment to SDs, I appreciate your insight and reasoning. It's always great to see how other collectors build their collections without so much focus on short term ROI.
I tend to agree with you that this coin doesn't fit into a strict SD collection though I think it does compliment it. Unlike the two looons or the silver Olympic luckie loons, the silver wedding sets and others, this one has the same design elements as the 1935 and the 2010 commemorative. For that reason, I think it is more in tune with a SD collection...at least mine.
I did order on-line. My rep sent an e-mail about an hour later. lol. He really needs to be more proactive.

CC - would you agree that given the coin has dates of 1935-2015 this SD is marking the 80th anniversary of the design and denomination?

The Mint thinks it does at least in the marketing material - "INCLUDES COMMEMORATIVE DATES! Your coin is engraved with commemorative dates of "1935-2015"". Though really I think it's just a way to have "1935" on the coin. If they didn't double date it, there would be collector backlash - I don't think the mint has ever "back dated" a coin without including the current year. I suspect other coins in the series will be double dated too but not necessarily to observe any particular anniversary.

I am a silver MC member, and sent my rep an email last night saying I wanted this coin (only was able to see the one posted on ebay) and got an email this morning that he ordered it for me.
