So it explains why I see the 2010/2011 silver dollars as singles on ebay. So what is the total numbers for these two dollars. I was thinking the only way collectors got these dollars were to buy the set. It would of made them much more rare. It's too bad they weren't the low numbers I first thought.
It also seems mint products have always been overprice, by how much is the debate? It seems as the mint lowered Mintage it increased its offerings. So it still mints the same amount of pieces yearly. It's just split up between different designs instead.
I hope the free coin case that holds 24 coins that the mint is issuing to MC Platinum plus members is not tied into the release of this coin. If so it could be a costly adventure for some. Just a thought.
Wai, and congrats on your two coins! This is a great forum with a gold mine of info! What types of coins do you collect and for how long?
Thanks CC, I didn't think the 2011 had such a high Mintage. It will be hard waiting for an in hand image to be posted! The in hand image so much better and different from mint sketches. I wonder if they will limit to the popular and rare dollars. I can't see people wanting repeats of images!
Anyone want to guess which silver dollars will be done?0
All commemorative Silver Dollars. I would buy the 1967, maybe `58. Remember 1935 was in celebration of 25th Anniversary of George V as King and first Silver Dollar- Voyageur Reverse.
I wonder if they will do the low mintage 1947ML 1948 dollars. You would think they would give a list so collectors could decide, whether or not to collect them. Its great being a yearly release. Anyone know when shipping starts. I wonder why 2 oz rather than standard silver dollar size. The 2 oz seems like a cash grab. It will be interesting to follow.
I do not think that 1948 will be re-released as 2oz....low mintage for one of the circulation coins means nothing nothing for mint. but actually, Perth Mint commemorated rare Australian Half Penny and One Penny in the 1oz bronze plated fine silver coins.

You right, "cash grab", but they also test the market. Steve (CC&C) can allow to the order from the mint 5oz series, but he has also to buy them. And RCM tried to "go lower" and to strike 2oz's.
This coin was suppose to be exclusive to mc, why they with hold 10% for dealers is stupid if there are mc on the waiting list. A simple design as I mentioned before would have been better, there's no need bedazzled every coin.

The first exclusive MC coin Master of the Sky Goose had a simple design and it did not do well. While it was free, there is very little interest on ebay. That coin was pretty ugly too.
On the hand, this coin looks great. A thing of beauty compared to the ugly goose coin. Everyone wants this one.
The goose coin was free, higher mintage non exclusive the RCM thought a scalloped design again will bedazzle us, maybe this coin in hand will look better than the pics, but the King looks a little goofy with the gold colouring, what's wrong with a nice proof copy of the 35 dollar.
We don't know where the 10% is going to. Too bad 100% of mintage wasn't held for master club members. Then it really would be an exclusive coin. Its too bad there isn't a video for the coin. I don't trust mock ups much. The videos give a good feel for a coin. I still don't understand why they don't use actual photos, unless they want the customer to be pleasantly surprized.
it really stinks that even though the email notices went down the ladder, platinum plus, platinum, gold , etc. they allowed people to call in and order this coin. I am platinum, and couldn't order it. because it was allowed for all mc, members they could call in even though it wasn't offered to them. so why do we get advanced notice then,if you can just call and order it out of turn. complete bullcrud, and end of rant..
