Itīs an "archer", a gold coin from ancient Partia...
I canīt say nothing about if the coin is fake or genuine, I would need better images...

Is it gold or silver?

it looks gold in the photo's but I thought it looked like a Darius Siglos (a silver coin)

In any case it needs close scrutiny.

From your picture it looks gold so I going to say it's an AV Stater of Darius I similar to the one listed in Sear as SB-3425. The weight should be 8.35 grams. Closer pictures of the coin including pictures of the edge would help. If it's real it's a valuable coin.

I am a bit skeptical of the reverse punchmark.
The evenness of it bothers me a bit.

Of the 108 Persian sigloi I reviewed on VCOINS, only two of them had the bowstring drawn back. Such may be a much rarer type variation.

The one sold on heritage has bowstring drawn back but the face is way off, especially the nose, drapery near leg also different.

From this distance it appears to me to be a replica of a daric of Darius I. That is a famous coin type and one that would inspire museum replication.

I have an original siglos of this type, and agree with the comments that the reverse incuse punch is not typical, flat lacking relief, and the shaping of the upper body of the archer king is not correct for the type. The head is too large, as if the modeler put the head of the later archer types, holding spear (TIII) or holding dagger (TIV), on the body of the early kneeling archer type. The proportions of the upper body are off.

Here is an example in silver (on right) alongside one of the later types for comparison:

For comparison again of the incuse punch mark.

This coin if silver would be the best preserved I have ever seen of this type. I think my coin above would be considered pretty good as they go (I have never seen a pristine one but I have seen a lot of slugs)

If gold then that would make more sense since gold is unreactive and tends be better preserved, but in this case its value would be remarkable too.

Either way it raises eyebrows, you either have something good or nothing.
