Some here have been rude and pessimistic. Not that people should be overly optimistic about the authenticity of the coin/video. All I am saying is, who would potentially knock hundreds of dollars off of a coins value by putting dirt on it just for one stinkin video?

Just because you think someone faked it doesn't mean you have to mock them and make fun of them.
I, believe this is a legit find. Can't wait till it comes back from PCGS!

I'm not quite sure why so many people think that the concept of digging a gold coin such as the OP's is entirely implausible. A lot of scarce to rare coins, especially colonials, are dug every year and never get brought to the attention of anyone outside detectorist sites and the TPG's. When you consider that one of the finest hoards of gold coins in many, many years -- Saddle Ridge -- was found entirely by spotting a rusty can sitting in the dirt, using only the couple's eyes as their equipment -- and that it was almost entirely MS63 or better in its state of preservation -- I find it hard to believe that so many coin collectors would find the idea of finding a single slightly-damaged 1806 Half Eagle as to be a billion-to-one chance. Gold gets found all the time; a trip to one of the bigger treasure sites will have 10 or 20 gold finds daily, from coins to rings to necklaces to nuggets. I have seen plenty of times where people find what we call "spills" containing a dozen or more Seated coins, or Indians, or large cents. This is not confirmation nor denial of OP; merely a reminder that sometimes people do get lucky, and it happens more than you might think, simply because it's not brought to your attention.

Coin: probably genuine. Story promoting an MD company: probably not.

Quote: Will everyone stop trying to discredit and harass the OP. We're here to help, not offend. We'll make a verdict of his intentions once the PCGS results are in. I'm a bit disappointed in how rude everyone has been to the OP. I couldn't agree more, I'm very surprised moderators have allowed this bullying to continue.

there's no bullying happening here just skepticism
at first I doubted the coin but now I do not as for the dig itself, I do not know enough to truly comment i do want to see media coverage because I think this is a once in a lifetime find and it should be shared to spread the greatness of our history through our coinage
