MFRY......... Yeah.....it will not be visible to you, on your screen, until you have a Moderator "turn it on" for you.......then it will be there as all of the others are......."Classic....Modern....Main......and scroll down to "General Discussion". Shoot Bryan1315 (moderator) an email and request him to make it available to ya.It isn't in those first few heading topics like "Family Topics" or "Introduce yourself"........once "turned on", it'll be above "World Coins", somewhere around the middle of the page on the CCF Home Page. In there you can discuss music, westerns, movies, post pics of a cool sunset, trips you've taken........start topics on ANYTHING you want to.... Let me know if you still have a problem getting to it, but first email any moderator and they'll get ya hooked up......your screen will look exactly the same, except "General Discussion" will be added as one more heading/subject option for you.

Thanks Eaglefoot. I shot him an e-mail and can't wait to see some of your Wild West posts on the forum. I saw the movie last night "The Dirty Rotten Coward Who Shot Jesse James". I thought it was pretty darn good.

Eaglefoot - I still couldn't find the right forum for your posts. Guess I'm just a blind man in this website. Can you lead me to it a little better. I'm not too stupid, just can't find my way around.

Ideas for future commemoratives, eh? How about American engineering marvels, such as Empire State Building, Hoover Dam, I think Panama Canal has been done, Great Alaskan Pipeline, etc. I read a book recently which said August 4 was Emancipation Proclamation Day. I had never heard of anyone celebrating that before, but I guess they did at the end of the Civil War. I know they did in Oklahoma (Indian Territory). I don't remember any coins being made to honor the great canal systems in the northwest which helped bring goods to Ohio and the like through the Great Lakes. I've never seen a Betsy Ross commemorative, or a Swamp Fox, or too many Revolutionary War Heroes. I've never seen a cmmemorative for the Spanish-American War. But I don't know them all, so I could be wrong. But there's still tons of fun stuff to do.

Glad to hear that. I think a nice future commemorative would honor those men and women who served in this current conflict we're in in Iraq & Afghanistan. Perhaps a coin for the 1st Gulf War also. Some of these conflicts get forgotten over time, but the brave men and women who served, and some who lost life or limb, will never forget - nor their families.

Yep ! I agree, even these small engagements that aren't classified as "Wars". Somalia....ie. Black Hawk Down for example..... The current wars are, for the first time ever, including National Guard & Reserve troops too !.....and FEMALES !!.......so "these" particular wars are "really" affecting America like never before......\ And I really wish they'd do more Native American and/or Old West stuff......I know I've already mentioned that, but......Indian designs seem to have always been popular !!.....(the Sac. coin maybe less)...... But I'd like to see a design on "regular" coins come back too........not just "commemorative" coins...... I don't want to take Jefferson "off" of the nickel.......but just think if they brought the " Buffalo nickel" back ?........pretty cool !

Sequoyah is one who should be so honored, with his Cherokee Alphabet. Great war chiefs should be also, like Sitting Bull, Geronimo. Maybe have a series of coins with the different styles of arrowheads or different tepee designs of different tribes. They probably have different war shields and such. Those could be beautiful and collectable. On each tribal cent perhaps you could write "In God We Trust" in that Native American language. Perhaps you could make them all a red or a dark bronze color, or even different colors. You could put a dream catcher on one, or the Sundance re-creation on one; the sweatlodge, the 4 directions, certain dances. The possibilities are endless with Native American coins.

I've always admired Tecumseh the famous Shawnee leader. He was known as an incredible orator and statesmen for his people and the 5 tribes which he, for a time, unified. He was also a very respected warrior too, of course....but that man's history is the stuff of LEGENDS ! Yeah....you're right......honoring the Native American historical aspect could be "endless". .......there's just so much there to recognize and honor.

Quote: TXcyclist wrote:...Oh, looks very likely that there'll be a coin in 2014 honoring the semicentennial of the "Civil Rights Act of 1964", as read on (coinnews.net). Since I live in Topeka, home of "Brown vs. Board of Education" which was a key starting point in the civil rights movement, I'd strongly support a coin commemorating the one American who probably did the most to change modern American history, but who has never had a coin issued in his honor: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hey there fellow Topekan ! He definitely should be honored with a coin.......and I don't think there would be a problem with Congress overwhelmingly supporting that..... That's one thing both parties can agree on for a change I bet ! I've got the "Little Rock Desegregation" Silver Dollar as a single proof and in the "2007 American Legacy Set". I like them, but as important as that was......yeah I agree, they need to honor Martin Luther King Jr. with a Silver Dollar. And I'm sure it would be a "hot seller" for the Mint too !!.......From Senators to teachers( ) and students.....to those who marched......and everybody in between. yep !.....this would be one popular coin to have and deservedly so !
