I realized that to view things like die cracks and such, I can scan the coin. Of course, this is not ideal to recover luster and the color looks funny, but you can see the detail nicely.

The picture below is of the die crack present on 31 of the coins, extending from the rim, past the X and into the hair.

What a great lot of pennies, makes me want to delve in to a lot of 37 to 52 I purchased in 2014 - they were also supposedly in storage since the early 60's however I don't expect them to be UNC but maybe a few nice ones...

Beautiful roll. Wish I came across this thread sooner, I could have done some research sooner for you, I frequent that market. And have bought a handful of items from them. They are the only coin booth in the market but the owner also has another store further south in Toronto.

lucky bum.

I was going to offer to take that nasty roll of 'canuck' money off your hands...

I'm with the concensus of that not being an official bank of canada roll - and just some company's roll...

I also do not think that it is an official Bank of Canada, but I suspect that it was probably rolled around the time of the date based on when I know my grandfather was collecting things. The fact that there are very clearly only 5 die pairings in the roll also indicate that the coins were probably rolled directly out of some bulk delivery from the mint. Collecting 50 UNC coins at a later date would pretty much guarantee a much more random set of die pairings.
