Purchased some junk silver at the LCS today for 11.3X face. Got a mix of Franklin halves, Washington quarters, and Mercury dimes.

They had dimes and quarters at the coin show today for 11x...pretty good! Works out to $15.38 / oz...pretty close to spot.

LCS says they charge $1 over spot. Today it would be 11.7x

Silver spot price is $14.31
Should I grab these?

I wouldn't...12.5x works out to 17.48 / oz. About $3.00 over spot. If you look hard, you can find junk silver for spot or less on ebay. The 11x is better.

Do you buy from ebay? APMEX has $10 face value for $115.15 https://www.ebay.com/itm/90-Silver-...AOSwmFhbqPKJ Right now, ebay has ebay bucks giving you 10% back. If you do the math, this makes the $10 face value almost exactly at spot (and free shipping). As spot moves, so does the auction price but ebay bucks is a good way to bring your cost down...if you qualify!

Yesterday I sold 3 Morgan and 6 Peace dollars for $20 each, 50 WL and 20 Franklin halves for $8 each, 90% JFKs for $7 each, 80 40% JFKs for $2.50 each, 10 Washington quarters for $3 each, and 15 Roosevelt and Liberty dimes for $1.50 each to a local buyer. My profit was roughly 20%.

My prices were less than another local seller on cl who renews his add as frequently as he's allowed, so I beat the local competition :)

I'd say great. Selling 90% that melts at 11X for 20X face?

On Friday the local coin shop wanted 11.3X for their junk silver and at an auction on Saturday quite a few rolls of Franklins and Walkers sold for 13-14X face.

I picked these up at a coin shop in Wilmington NC for 13x face. With silver moving up recently I didn't think the price was too bad.

LCS says they are still holding at 13:1 for newer junk.
