I have good news and bad news.

First, the good.
Some of you may know that I'm a high school senior. Recently, a freshman who's also in the band has expressed an interest in collecting and come to me for some guidance. He's hunted a couple boxes of nickels, and on Monday he showed me this beautiful 1929-S, which he pulled from his very first box. Not only that, but it has a nice lamination visible on both sides of the coin, which he though was just damage until I explained it. I snapped a couple of quick pictures on my phone, so it's a bit hard to see, but they're there.
Very nice!

Now the bad news.
The lamination peel on the reverse, which was still attached to the coin, broke off in his finger.
Oh my!

Went through our weekly box and it was a milestone one!

First, this one was an ender:

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!
First Buffalo ender for us.

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

Then, we struck silver:
The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

The rest of the box was a little slow. 4 Canadian Nickels, 16 older Jefferson's. A few San Francisco nickels, 48S and 54S, as well as a 2009D.

Finally, we hit the last roll, and this was what spilled out:

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

Our first V nickel! A little over 46 boxes searched.

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

We were super excited!

Our first V nickel!

Fantastic! Seeing all these excellent coins makes me want to keep hunting. I haven't done it in a while since I don't have a lot of time, but I guess I just need to make some.

Tonight's box yielded a 1945D and a 1968 Canadian upgrade.

With this silver nickel, we have hit a new milestone: 450 silver nickels collected from CRH.

I'm sure it was exciting to see the Buffalo on the end of the roll.

I haven't had too much luck lately, and the finds upthread are great. But here are mine: a few lower-mintage Jefferson nickels: 1942-D, 1949-S, and 1951-S (with a lamination issue on the obverse).
