BostonCornHusker - I've been CRH'ing nickels for about 4 years. Here's what I've found over that period searching over 165 boxes (50 rolls per box). As you can see my averages per box match close to what you've found. Actually, your numbers are a little better than my average. I've also found these averages to be pretty consistent over that four year period. Happy hunting.

@tnt, thanks for the breakdown. Jbuck is right, that is an impressive breakdown. Glad to hear I was just about par for the course, and even better hearing you've been hitting those numbers for just a long streak! Not sure I'll ever hit those numbers (looks like you're averaging near a box a week), but maybe I'll strike it lucky and find a V nickel soon haha.

Good luck, and thanks again

First box of nickels in the books. Here's the breakdown:

Pre-1960
1- 1939
1- 1941-D
5- 1941
4- 1946
3- 1947
1- 1948-D
2- 1948
1- 1949
2- 1953-D
1- 1953
3- 1954-D
1- 1954
1- 1955-D
1- 1956-D
1- 1957-D
3- 1957
1- 1958
4- 1959-D
1- 1959

2009s
2- 2009-P

Foreign
2- Canadian nickels

Proofs
1- 1968-S
1- 1969-S

War
1- 1945-P

So, what I'm wondering is, are any of these key or semi-key dates? Did I find anything exciting? I don't have a microscope, so I can't scope these for errors (I only have a loop).

Any help is appreciated. Thanks all!

That silver 1945-P is definitely good; the foreigns are cool also. I do not think that the S-nickels that you found are proofs, as those years San Francisco also made nickels for circulation. I would need to see pictures to be sure though. The pre-1960's nickels are interesting also.

Thanks tencentpenny. I was wondering about the S mintmark. I'm really new to nickels, and have only found 3 of them. The 1969 looks nice, but I'll see about getting some pics up.
