Thanks, all!
Last year, I also recorded a 1939-D, but no 1950-D... the year before, I similarly recorded a 1950-D in January, but no 1939-D... Perhaps this will finally a year where I find both!

Bought one half of a box of nickels yesterday at my usual bank on my lunch hour. 14 pre-60s including the top 6 coins. went back today before work hoping the teller still had the other half of the box and she did! 17 more pre-60s including the bottom 3 coins! Included in this group: 1928-D Buffalo, 1938, Key Date 1939-S, 1941-S Large S, 1943-S & 1944-D 35% Silver War Nickels, and 3 semi-key date 1951-S nickels. What a great box!

Thanks, Brandmeister! I'm hoping there are "sister" boxes in the local area... going to hit a few of my other branches tomorrow after work in search of more.

So I made a little trip out to the Vegas area for some R&R and to celebrate a good friend's birthday this past weekend... On Monday, I pulled 6,800 nickels from 9 different branches (8 in Summerlin, 1 in Henderson)... 45 pre-60s were led by, believe it or not, my SECOND 1939-D in the past 16 days! A very choice XF example - I actually found it amongst the 20 CWR my teller/banker friend (whose birthday I was celebrating) gave me! Also found a 1958 Philly (not pictured), a 2009-P, 2 2024-Ds, and 10 2009-Ds!

My last box was the worse. Only 8 keepers nothing special no 2024,2009 one type 1,1942. There's always the next one. A nice 1999p with full steps

Found a 1945-S War Nickel in my weekly credit union $20. 98Dodger, do you have interest in 1999-P full steps nickels? I check all 1990-1999 nickels for full steps. However, given how common FS are on 1998 and 1999 nickels, I often just discard them because the premium is so low. Same with 2000-2003. It's no skin off my back to stick the next three I find into flips and mail them via USPS.
