Many thanks, Diverdude, for sharing and for the comprehensive descriptions This banknote of 50 Lirot, issued in Israel in 1958 depicts two young pioneers on the background of the Negev desert and, on the back, mosaic from the ancient synagogue of Nirim in the Negev desert shows Jewish candelabrum (Menorah):
The woman served as a model to design this banknote is Tsruya Shkedi-Ronen. Here is the original photo (upper right) and Tsruya Shkedi-Ronen holding the banknote:

Quote: Last one for now which has more to do with the Jamaican Coat of Arms than this 1960 dollar bill. I just want to point out @Diverdude that your Jamaican $1.00 note is from the original 1960 series P-54 with the "2 shaded / 2 white" markers ($1 on the corners) & a Z prefix, which means its a rarer replacement note. [Replacements on island currency are often quite scarce: I have only seen 2 letter prefixes on many more P-59a/b myself] So nice note! Did you take them yourself? Is there a story there?

I like to search for the original photos used as models to design stamps and banknotes I have in my album. Most of the photos I found in the internet or in old books I buy. In one case, the Lao woman photo I posted earlier (of the 100 piastre banknote), I received from her granddaughter as I wrote in the post. In 2-3 other cases, I contacted the families and ask for information and photos. Here for instance a banknote of 0.5 Lira issued by Israel in 1958 shows young girl serving in the Israeli Nahal brigade (Israeli Brigade that combined combined military service and establishment of new agricultural communities) + the photo probably used as a model, published in Israel in many sites and books:

Thanks walk2dwater for the info on that Jamaican dollar! I was just looking for a clear Coat of Arms. LaoPhil, that is awesome dedication finding the photos and background. That is the kind of stuff that should be in a book of your own sometime. Thanks for sharing.
