I think it's pretty safe to say they will be quite common

I think that's fantastic! Where'd you pick it up from?

It's unfortunate that the mint doesn't have some kind of distinguishing mark on their plastic wrap. These seem quite ripe for knockoffs if you have the means to seal them.

Very true, although I've never noticed another dotty sealer quite like the mint uses, not that I've ever looked for one either. So where you picked this one up is top secret, somewhat like the ole favoured fishing spot in the river eh?

DrJackle had send me an email to come check out this thread. It looks like we are not the only ones with the 2015 loonie error pack. I did get one out of our purchases, and now very interested to know how many are out there, and how rare these are going to be.
I still think its a very unique set, and thought why not let the market set the price.

Only 2 reported here so far, Dr Jackle and Aghoarder, yours makes 3. In response to another comment, I agree it wouldn't surprise me if the mixup was intentional. Nothing like the thrill of the seek and find to increase awareness and sales.

I know of a number of sets that have surfaced in my community...eight in total if my calculations are correct. My understanding is that this set would be called a parent set, given that there is an "older" coin grouped with the 2016 coins. These sets were purchased shortly after they were released by the Mint which leads me to believe that all the variety may already be in circulation, waiting to be discovered. I checked a number of postal outlets today and was not successful in finding a 2016 set with the 2015 loon in it. I ended up purchasing a regular 2016 set and will have to keep hunting, I guess.....

I bought mine as a conversation piece, the dealer that sold it to me knew of more and only charged me a moderate premium. I think it's pretty neat and I will hold onto it. In my opinion, it will never be worth more than I paid for it but it might be cool to take out in 20 years and talk about.

Received this in an e-mail from the Mint. "Please note that an assembly error has been identified in the Royal Canadian Mint's 2016 uncirculated set, which was launched on January 12, 2016. In some instances, a 2015-dated one-dollar coin was mistakenly included in the set, rather than a 2016-dated one dollar coin. Please take a moment to inspect the set you recently purchased from the Mint. If it contains a 2015-dated one-dollar coin, you may return this product for replacement by contacting the Mint at 1-800-267-1871. Your set will be replaced as soon as possible. Please note that you may receive a different serial number with your replacement set. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Mint is committed to continuous improvement and we are currently reviewing our processes." There must be enough of the errors that the Mint felt it best to notify anyone who ordered the set. I wouldn't have returned the error set but will return the set I have because of the security features mix up.
