The local Ottawa news just did a piece on the Library of Parliament coin which was presented at a ceremony here today. The news anchor actually had the coin in hand on his desk.

Very interesting and looks really cool. I have a few of the 2014 Hall of Fame US coins and really enjoyed them. Of course, the Canadian concave coin is wildly expensive in comparison though much lower mintage for a smaller market.

I think this one will be very popular. Too bad about the price but with the 6k mintage, it might be available for a discount later.

Edited to add the video from the newscast:

Congrats to RCM, our mint joined Niue and Cook Islands in the egg-shaped coins.
The "Imperial Egg" and some other series running for years and all ebay full of them:

I've shown to the friend who has Ukrainian roots, he said:
"find me simple souvenir painted egg, and the difference in the prices in the "gift card", please "...

Indeed, the egg coin is not all that it's cracked up to be.

Darn good reason why not to all be in the same basket.

Wildflowers & Commems you guys made me chuckle. @Silveroid I didn't know there were so many egg shaped coins. A person could have a whole collection.

I don't get the shamrock coin, its rather boring. It just doesn't have a commanding presence. I think someone else also had a shamrock coin. I can see all the coins today.

Yeah that was fun, Commens was egging me on.

As for the Four Leaf Clover, I like the coin, might be one I keep an eye on to give as a gift as a good luck token, someone who's celebrating a new beginning.

I remember hunting for them as a child. I wouldn't expect the coin to have a commanding presence, a four leaf clover just is what it is.

Mint really is dysfunctional eh?

They have all this secrecy and flex their muscles (see the sticky thread) over new coin releases yet they post new coin videos on YouTube and they just posted a pic of the Library of Parliament coin on Twitter before the coin is available on their website for general release.

LoL. It's ok when they do it.

It's "out of stock" because it's still January and not released yet.

"Availability: This item is currently on order."

Either RCM sold the total mintage to dealers and foreign mints or there's a whole lot of Ukrainian MC members because it's not yet available on the RCM website for the general public to order.

Item was in stock all week for VIP members. Today their site states "out of stock."

I'm a VIP member too. CCC cannot have an item in stock prior to it's official release date by RCM. It's not yet been released because it doesn't appear on RCM's "New Release" link (sold out or otherwise).

Click on the item and under "Out of Stock" is:

Availability: This item is currently on order.

It can still be preordered, this is a Febuary release. However you certainly can be right and what happened is they made a mistake by showing the item "in stock" before it was supposed to be released. But I've never had occasion where an item "is on order" and my order hasn't been filled within a period of time.

Is anyone else wondering why the Ukrainian egg is not even showing on the mint's site? Other February releases are available for purchase by the general public, but not this one. I'm curious.
