I understand that Mint celebrates 125 Anniversary of settlement, but why need to issue so many similar coins?
And all of them will be series?

Could be, Wildflower, but who knows...the truth might be in the middle.

And people from other forum reminded about the 3-rd MC special coin, with the innovative technology, so it could be real (cause Pysanka coin is 2-D) "Egg shaped" coin.

April Releases have been leaked!

- The $9 Pysanka Egg shaped coin, with antique relief
- The $17 Pysanka Oval shaped coin, with glow in the dark highlights
- The enamaled 4 ounce 'Raining Pysankas', $47 high relief coin
- The $3 Pysanka birthstone with Swarovski elements ultra-high relief coin

I like the "Raining Pysankas" 4 ounce high relief coin. lol

Then all who dissed this coin will have to wipe the egg off their faces. (Just having some fun, guys!)

No one ever thought, how about coins for Eggs of Birds of Canada. All those birds already on coins have eggs that all look different. Then they could just mint all the coins in the one run. If the die cracks, so what, it would give more realistic effect of a crack in the egg.

Generations from now people will be asking, "What came first, the Loonie or the Pysanka Egg?"

It'll be interesting to see what happens on the secondary market over the next 24 months. Let's not forget one important fact... 1 Oz of silver is less than $15 US.

Its nice to know that the RCM can still pull off a few surprises.

Reading the threads, it seems like collectors are never satisfied! One minute the mintage is too high and prices are falling. Then a hot coin appears, with low mintage, still more critism of it wont last. Are people upset with the pysanka coin, because they missed a flipping opportunity, one has to wonder. Simply this coin was a sleeper. The ethnic population valued it more than a coin from Niue.

This coin cannot catch a break, first no one liked the design, thought it was too high a mintage, for a niche market. Now that its selling for more than double issue price, no one thinks it can last. It is the collector, who missed out, that is left will egg on his face.

I didn't buy the coin, because I didn't like the green on the coin, I still don't like the green, prince increase hasn't changed my opinion.

There's also just one ounce of silver in the Venetian Glass Ladybug coin.

Does anyone else in the forum agree with the value of this coin? It seems very gimmicky to me.

Is this going to be a new trend to produce odd shaped coins? The maple leaf shaped coin from last year has also gone up in value. However, I debate whether or not it should be categorized as a coin.

If the mint decides to make a 3D figurine and stamps a value into it, is it still a coin? I ask because I can see the mint doing something like this in the future.

It's interesting is to observe how the value has been established. Playing with numbers --

4,000 minted. Considering the coin was sold out by RCM before it became available for purchase by the general public, it's open to speculation who are the masses that purchased the coin. But unless RCM sold a large portion to a bulk buyer, the vast majority of purchasers would have been bought at issue price - $114.95. It can be assumed the saw value in the purchase at that price.

Looking at sold listings, at this point in time it appears 55 Pysankas have been sold on ebay. That amount represents 1.3% of the total mintage. Of the 55, only 33 paid over $200, less than 1%. We don't know how many were sold above issue by dealers but available quantities were not large. Of any other typical market industry, the low volume of ebay sales would be much too minute a percentage to base present and future values on.
