I don't suppose Monnaie de Paris has a coin for Year of the Chicken (Rooster actually if I understand Chinese years correctly). I was born in late 1945, so am a Rooster.

Fred I envy you
I was born 1947 under our zodiac as a steer
under the chinese as a pig

I rather be a steer then a pig
At least the steer is slaughtered with pomp and music in the Spanish corrida
Rest in Peace

Has a child my grandmother made me do that so I know if you let go they run away without head
A pig nor a steer would manage running away without head
Rest in Peace

My father raised chickens in our backyard when I was a kid. I got traumatized when he cut off the head of a particular favorite. Ever since then, I've never been able to behead chickens. Shoot 'em, blast 'em, pluck and clean 'em, definitely eat 'em, but no way will I cut off their heads.

As an environmental auditor I had to certify chicken breeders with more then 40 000 chickens

This all business was ghostly
They buy the chickens around 6 to 9 days old and put them in an hangar with a wire floor were you hardly see them
The young ones that die are given to somebody that breeds fishing worms
They feed the chickens a mixture that for every kilo they eat they gain 600 grams in weight
At one kilo 600 grams they fill the hangar shoulder to shoulder most feathers red with blood ready to be slaughtered
They ship them out to somebody with a machine that kills them and delivers them in a vacuum supermarket on polystyrene ready to sell package
Then they clean the hangar put formaldehyde in it and evaporate the formaldehyde so the hangar is fumigated
For 8 years now I am trying to forget .

The saddest thing in all this story is that only the guy with the machine really makes money
