I don't have a 2014, here's a 2015 (more coins on a medal), this time the 480 anniversary of the Mexico Mint.

You have a truly remarkable collection of Mexican medals. That last post sums it up: 480 years of history, and you showed us only the last 65. Thank you for sharing and for the education. I know it was a lot of work on your part; much appreciated!

@nss-52, do you have the Frank W. Grove book "medals of mexico"? Or do know who can look up something in it?

Yes, I own the book.
I actually have two copies. One is full of post it notes indicating prices, purchases, and research information. I also have images of some medals that Grove didn't get for his catalog. That copy is at a different location.
I have another copy with me at my current location. So...
What do you want to know? I'll try to help you.

Thanks, @nss-52. I posted pictures of a Mexican medal in this thread: https://goccf.com/t/261386The immediate question is, is it in Grove and if so, what is the number, metal content and rarity. Ultimately I want to get an idea of the fair market value of it as my LCS has it and I would like to get it. The piece has a bit of wear and there was a mount removed, but the fair market value of an UNC piece would still be OK.

I responded to the other post.
Addendum: Grove lists prices, but they are 1972 prices and are not useful in today's market. He lists the 900a at $7.

Haven't been to this forum in a long while, but your thread made it worthwhile!
I am also a collector of Mexican medals (among other things), my focus is on everything related to Emiliano Zapata, but I have picked up some other items along the way.
Good luck with the update of the Grove catalog ;-) There are new medals being discovered every day, some of them apparently Mo Mint products, but without the mintmark. Then there is the extensive work of sculptor Lorenzo Rafael, not all of which executed by the Casa de Moneda.
What I am less fascinated of (but I know and accept that many collectors like it) are "coins on medals", the way they are frequently being issued by numismatic organizations or the Mexico mint themselves.

If you own any Mexican Medals, please post photos of them here to share.

No, that is extremely rare. I posted a picture of a medal with a large die crack. I am aware of one medal with a doubled die. More on that later.

Last month I said I was aware of a medal with a doubled die. I wanted to buy it, but it sold for more than I was willing to pay. It sold for $107.50. Here is the photo from the listing, with some arrows showing the doubling. Well, I think it is doubling (I am not an error expert).

Months ago, I said I would post a few fakes. Seems like I never got around to that. There are very few counterfeit "modern" Mexican medals that I am aware of. But here are a few faked Mexican medals I have come across. This is one side of a 1942 medal issued to commemorate 400 years since the founding of Guadalajara.

This next one is a gold plated "medal", that is based on a gold 200 pesos coin issued in 2010. The genuine coin sells for a premium above the gold content.

Okay, fake medals. This is quite new to me. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised (I'm not surprised about the gold piece, of course...)
Hopefully I get around to post some of my medals, although as I mentioned I don't have a very extensive collection...
