The one drawback from building a similar cabinet would be the wood itself. Unless you find a sufficient supply of old wood to re-appropriate you would be left using something that will continue to out-gas fumes that are not coin friendly.

I do have one question... how do you catalog your collection in these drawers?

I maintain my own website. It acts as my catalog and also is always with me on my phone when I'm at shows or visiting my lcs. This way I know what I have at all times.

True... and even with old wood more than likely you'd put a new finish on it.

But aren't TPG capsules welded shut and thus protected from such things?

Three things in your pics that I really like:
1. The amaqzing cabinet.
2. The amazing collection of coins.
3. The Hemingray-42 insulator on the top of the cabinet!

Look at my signature block below.

But I do have a question. The pic makes the insulator look more blue than it should be. These do come in a color known to us collectors as Hemingray Blue (similar to the Ball Blue of canning jars), but the pic makes yours have more cobalt in it than they made them. Cameras sometimes have trouble with blues anyway. Just curious.

They may slow bad stuff down, but are not impermeable.

Earle.. The hemingway is a very rich blue at the top and as you get to the bottom of the glass it does look more like the ball jar you described.

Shorter wavelengths are more difficult to focus.

Excellent. May I ask what you used to build? MySQL / SQL Server back end?

A museum standard for slabbed coins!
I notice that it is nearly full.
You have said that a brother cabinet will be coming soon.

Kind of thought it was the pic. I do a lot of insulator photography for articles and over the years, depending on the camera, have found certain colors that certain cameras will not render correctly. Also, there are people who sell insulators on ebay who use glass paint to make them interesting colors.

Again...amazing setup you have there. Thanks for sharing.

Would that be the equivalent of artificial tone?
