Just reading some of the Q&A on the Mint website concerning this case. It seems the Mint is modifying the case - so now there will be two version - to address some of the complaints. Specifically, "Yes we have addressed the known problems with the previous version of the box.
1) We will reprint the Canoe folders. Please call our call centre to let us know if yours doesn't fit and we will send you a new one that will fit.
2) We have added ribbons to the next round of manufactured boxes to prevent the tray from lifting too high; this will keep the coins from falling out."They also suggest that you can replace the 'old' version with the 'new' version by call them. I'm not convinced that the ribbon will help much. I find just carrying the case at anything but perfectly horizontal will dislodge the coins because the slots are just way too big. Also, if the Mint knows there is a problem, why are they not actively recalling the inferior product. Seems a little shady to me. Add that to them removing the 7k limit on their production and this one has become rather distasteful.

I may have to try that and see if I can get the newer version. My 20 for 20 set has gone from sitting in a shoebox to now sitting in this case that I don't like to move or even open because the coins fall out too easily. The production limit I don't think is a big issue, they should make as many cases as there are collectors who want them but I do think they should've addressed the issue of the slots being too big.

I think they will ship you out a updated box if you bought one,for free, time will tell, I have one, I guess I need to contact them... The mintage will be pretty much thrown out the window now since there will be god knows how many boxes floating around as there will be the old version and the new updated version.

I stopped the coins from falling out by putting a piece of foam at 6 o'clock , it is the type that is sticky on one side. When you get it in and the coin is in you can not see it, it's also black. All my coins fell out once that was the end of that.

I just got an email from my rep saying he wanted me to call him regarding the box.

Sorry I wasn't really expecting them to recall to the boxes (rhetorical question) just pointing out that their handling of this item (inferior quality with no proactive attempt to rectify the situation) plus deciding to ignore their own 7k production limit is a glaring indication of how they regard their customers. The Mint's CS and QA have been taking a nose dive over the past couple of years. When will it hit rock bottom? (again rhetorical)

My rep told me there were issues with the boxes and that I could send it back. New boxes are being made but won't ship out until summer. Looks like they are trying to address the problem, at least for some people.

It just suppose to be suitable storage for inexpensive coins. So saying this, is it really meter, if they outsourced 7K boxes or 70K boxes? Hope you didn't buy this box due to promised production limit...

It's not a storage box, it's a display box. And if they sell it as limited to 7k, then it should have remained limited. If was made to demand than it should have stated that from the beginning. It's a simple question of integrity, or lack there of. Of course a full display box should be better than 20 loose coins. The Mint knows this, that's why most subscriptions comes with a 'free' case. The difference here is that the display case was sold separately and not embedded in the price of the coins (sub). Redzapsid, that is encouraging. Good on your rep for taking some initiative. added - if I send mine back, and they don't ship the new one until July, I'll might lose my MC status.

You right, CC-Ottawa, for the integrity part. And sure, more display rather than just storage. But again, per my understand, it still just accessory, so I wouldn't take the production limit amount seriously. just think - we need the boxes, and preferable, that they are always will be available via RCM website. Otherwise, people who still will collect these - will wait another 4 for 2016-2019 box? Let's leave the "limited production blah blah" for stuff like Exclusive MC monogram wooden box

Silveroid, you're missing the point. I, for one, bought this box because with the advertised mintage of 7,000, it set 7000 sets aside from the rest

I not missing it, Redzapsid In my opinion, this is incorrect reason to buy this. What is the point here - to own 1 of 7K cardboard boxes? will you buy the Masks Set box, cause with exactly this inlay setup, only 3K produced? Or 2012 Penny set box produced 5K? Be sure, they produced (probably even not by RCM) more.

Clearly, you are missing the point. They advertised a limited amount and than made more. If you are ok with that, that's up to you but the phrase "false advertising" comes to mind for me. You compared it to the master club box, which wasn't advertised as limited quantity and was free. Then you compared it to boxes that come with coins, again, not the same. If there was actually only 7000 boxes made, those 7000 sets would have value than a handful of $20 for $20s in a shoebox. It's the principle. It's no different than making another 5000 glass ladybugs.

It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. They advertised a limited mintage, than exceeded it. That's were the wrong doing is.

Yes, the difference in opinion, that for me "advertisement = say whatever do you want, just to sell it". when it comes to collectible item like a Ladybug, the rules suppose to be very tight. But here, limited amount of CAD30 box? Come on, they do not have to follow a thing, but the customers have to be thankful, that RCM thrown them a box, and up to us - to buy it or not.
