I'm just happy to know that at least 2 of my local banks will take them. When I bought them, it was a way to save money under the confirmed belief that they can be cashed in as legal tender. After hearing of many people upset about not being able to cash them in, I know for a fact you can. That gives me more confidence in the mints advertising tactics, although the box for these still leaves a sour taste

let me make it clear once again, the only reason for the 20 for 20 coins, was to bring new collectors into the market..it was only a marketing move, that is why it is the only coin they advertise on tv, and in the newspaper..and even though it is 5$ worth of silver, they get 20$ but I would have to assume there is a bank account set to repay ALL THE ONES REDEEMED. they want you to buy the 69$-500$ coins that will never be redeemed.

just just out their account on ebay, were they only ship to the USA, why you ask, because there is no redemption policy in the USA..they know all of them can't be redeemed, maybe that is where there are selling all the ones that have been redeemed..all they need to do is print some more certificates.. who knows?

In this era of transparency, nope not according to what's disclosed by RCM's financial statements. You'll find them posted on RCM's website.

And if RCM was required to maintain some sort of everlasting float based on past sales, that would be clear acknowledge they've entered into the banking and investment business - an entire different ball game, heavily regulated.

RCM sells collector coin, that's it. If a point in time is reached when the $value of XforX that gets cashed negatively impacts their profit, their option is to shut down face value redemptions of collector coin, just like in the UK.

Have any of you ever talked to your reps or anyone else at RCM? Notice that through their online QandA , redemption a promise or commitment. Anyone who specially asks only gets the scripted response - maybe banks or check out a dealer. It's not a good practise to assume nothing ever changes especially when it's not guaranteed to begin with.

I have bought other coins at a higher price with a much less face value such as the gold penny. Of course, I will never that a gold penny to the bank. I am not a beginner collector so the $x for $x is no longer my thing.

Me too. Aside from XforX which I have no reason to buy, the NCLT in my collection, no intention whatsoever to redeem it for face value. If it becomes that uncollectable, I'd sooner give it away to someone who wants it.

At one time, particularly in the '60s and '70s, other Canadian companies were active in minting very creative silver medallions and art bars. But RCM was the only entity who could mint coins and their products increased in popularity over time, even though their collector coin was far more traditional and less artistic.

Collector coin must feature the monarch's effigy and bear a denomination in order to be considered coin (as opposed to a medallion), other than that the f/v is meaningless to me. If I felt compelled to ever buy what I consider to be money, instead I'd withdraw cash from my bank account and just stash it in a safe and secure place.

Does anyone know off hand how many of each denomination have been issued in the $20, $25, $50, $100, and $200 $x for $x series?

I believe, that the question wasn't about mintages / final mintage, but amount of issues per each denomination.

I remember only the $200for$200

Forests - imo the best one
Coastal Waters - not bad, but the center of the coin was like a "flush" in WC
Mountains - not bad at all, but people were totally unnecessary on the coin

**Even the TD teller told that he wants to buy it off bank.
Ofcause, all the stuff never heard about them, but since instructions are clear, took 5-7 mins to do the deposit.

Redzapsid, if you want to do some digging, the name and denomination of each all the coins sold for the Face Value Program are listed near the end of the respective year's financial statement. Volume sold as well, if you're interested.

I just noticed "Numismatic Coins" have been posted separately only for the year 2014.

2015 f/s hasn't been released yet.

Just reading some of the Q&A on the Mint website concerning this case.

It seems the Mint is modifying the case - so now there will be two version - to address some of the complaints. Specifically,

"Yes we have addressed the known problems with the previous version of the box.

1) We will reprint the Canoe folders. Please call our call centre to let us know if yours doesn't fit and we will send you a new one that will fit.

I didn't call to request new folders. I was just reviewing my current orders online with RCM and I noticed one I didn't place on April 19 for "PM Bilingual Coin Carrier Certificate NNA-CANOE - Reprint", item NO. 156484. It looks like these are being automatically shipped out. I don't know if everyone will get them. I don't have a rep, but I am Platinum MC.

Thanks for the info rjlavoie. I just checked my orders and I too have one dated April 19th for a reprinted card. Looks like everyone who ordered the box will get a new canoe card.

So the mintage of the Canoe cards will be increased?

First RCM re-minted the cardbord boxes and now the cards..
