Nyfireman Valued Member United States 218 Posts	Posted 03/02/2016 7:53 pm Good evening everyone I have been on a dry spell lately but I think I may have found a RPM but I cant find any of the markers to go along with it. so frustrating but looking for everyones thoughts on it I seem to think its a match on wexlers as WRPM-002. what do you all think thank you everyone for all your help Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/02/2016 8:28 pm RPMs should rise from the field, not reduce the size of a normal mint mark. Here are a ew to display this: When we see part of the mint mark reduced by MD we call it that. On your coin there maybe a hit or two, but I don't see the RPM rising from below on your coin. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/02/2016 11:32 pm A thought came to me a while ago; With the Machine Doubling happening on coins, there is no way it could be a hub issue. The devices are tapered from top (narrow) wider at the base. With the mark that MD makes in a device, there is no way that it would release if it was hubbed into the die that way. So it stands to reason this can only happen when the dies move/bounce during a strike damaging them with a horizontal movement. (Moving sideways) Even The bust and the central reverse designs are tapered top (narrow) wider at the bases. This is so the coin will release from the die. Report this Post to the Staff
