Bill Fivaz says most of the damage is just strike-through errors. I have her at AU-58 details.

I'm sorry, even knowing the low mintage on this and it having only the lightest circulation but I just can't like this one.

Even if that is a strike through, which it probably is, that defaced face would haunt me.

Rest in Peace

I agree as well. It would be a really nice coin without the damage.

I cant get into it either. I would call it AU58 also but it would drive me nuts having to look at it

I would suggest die rust, not strike-through errors, are the source of this coin's surface defects.

Wear grade-wise, EAC 45 sharpness; TPG AU58.

It would not merit a "details" designator as the damage is likely either a mint error as posited by Mr. Fivaz or my opinion (of a rusted die pair)

AU-55 but like the others said, poor eye appeal.

AU details. I am seeing both strike through and damage. An iteresting coin that that has a lot to teach, IMO. Maybe not the prettiest but dramatic strike through errors are still cool in my book.
