Very cool project. I grabbed all of my junk silver at the time 2 years ago for a contest on a non coin forum to guess the total face value (with some ringers included).

Love the new bigger box GR58 VERY nice Jack! What was the final tally? My son asked me a couple of weeks ago how much silver we had in 90% coins and I told him a bit over $100 I would guess. I had never counted it before. When I was in high school in the mid 70's I had a part time job at a bank. Started picking up the occasional dime, half and quarter that would show up. I have also bought a little bit here and there over the years. Anyway last weekend I thought I would get it all out and actually count it. My total is $196.55

GR58, I really like the gem stones, I think they're a nice touch. About 20 years ago I was on vacation in the Caribbean, and couldn't see myself bringing a piņata back on the plane, or a sombrero or genuine Mayan clay pots. So I picked up some coins and stones for souvenirs. At customs, the unmounted gems were treated like rocks, and not jewelry. Later on I learned to mount them and use them as gifts. The nieces and neighbor girls get one as a graduation gift. I'd wear them myself, but I just don't look good in jewelry. Judge for yourself.

WOW Chute! Love the mounted pieces and good thinking on bringing the "rocks" back. Thanks Goldrush. It was fun to get it all laid out and separated. Hope you get to do the same with yours someday!

Lucky dog! I am way overdue for a junk silver pickup.. Whenever I am at a coin shop I make it a rule to pick up all the foreign silver from the bin, but the last several trips they had none.

Mamastinky I can understand that ... I shop at two or three coin shops. Recently I have seen the same thing ...no foreign silver.
But like this last bunch ..sometimes I get lucky

Just using this thread to keep track .. I picked up some 1oz silver today. Then I thought, look through my coins that really don't have a home/album, and put them into the box. ended up with 35. Now the box has over 500 pieces of silver (501) at 219.3143oz.
