As to fakes, when I was a kid we used to use an electric eraser to modify many coins. Removing that D was just something to do. We also made 14D's out of 44D's. Report this Post to the Staff

DantheGrey New Member United States 18 Posts	Posted 02/17/2008 5:45 pm I only see one problem with the 14D from the 44D, the metallurgy would be wrong but most of those e-bay experts can't even spell metalurgy, whoops, Metallurgy... No offense meant, the subject of altered coins always brings e-bay to mind, what with some of the most ridiculous & amusing coin descriptions I ever seen. And I'm most definitely a long time novice.
