Please forgive the harsh lighting (built in flash, while I wait for some lighting to arrive) and slightly out of focus reverse. Coin photography is new to me - and in all honesty, anything more than point and shoot is new to me.

This is a recent raw acquisition that I picked up for a relative steal, in my opinion. There is a small scratch on the chin, but I do not know if that is offputting enough to put it into a details grade, or not. I've seen ones with more pronounced dings without it, but I am no expert on grading.

Any thoughts or feedback would be most appreciated. Thank you!

looks to have xf45 or so detail. The color difference between obverse and reverse is a bit concerning. Possibly cleaned and trying to retone

Agreed, and thank you. In-hand, the difference is not as striking, but it is there. Although I highly doubt it had much of an impact, the obverse was shot last night, with an additional light source (the incandescent lamp from the room) and the reverse this morning, with ambient daylight in the same room.

I'm going to reshoot the obverse in the same lighting condition to see if it has any contribution to it, but I highly doubt it.

Edit: Reshooting it in the same lighting conditions as the reverse, the two obverse shots are nearly identical to my eye. For what it is worth, I have picked up two of these recently, with this one being the better condition but lesser expensive of the two. Shipped, I got this one for under $15.

If you bought this large cent for less than $15 you get the bargain of the month. The sharpness is a full EF with a little corrosion and a little cleaning.

Thanks, Bill! I figured that this would be a good start on a 7070 type set album, and did not get this one with the intention on having it graded, or anything like that. What I have found interesting is the thrill of the bargain hunt, and how intoxicating it is. In fact, most everything I have recently acquired has been without much direction, as getting a good deal is overriding my want to focus on a particular series.

(I believe that I am going to focus on Coronets and Seated Liberty dimes when I do focus, as there is something intrinsically attractive to both, to me - and they are still relatively affordable in higher grades.)

XF45. color is more of a concern that the tiny chin nick for a details designation.

Agree EF-45 as well, but the obverse does appear splotchy and possibly cleaned.

Attrative despite the old cleaning. Given time it will only look better. Nice pick up.
