@EddieDiz, that is a great group of Hungarian denars that you have accumulated! With regard to the presence/absence of pellets determining whether the K-P/rose field marked denars are from 1488 or 1489, I wonder if you can share your source of information on that? I hadn't heard that before, but it is very interesting to me as I would have then mis-dated one of my own denars.

I wonder if anyone here has any of the terminal issues of the Byzantine empire for this century? Constantine XI Palaiologos, the very last in the line of "Roman" emperors, was killed in a final stand against invading Arabs in 1453.

I'm pretty sure dougsmit has a John VIII coin, which would fit in 15th century.
Constantine XI coins are really rare; I won't be surprised if none of them belong to a CCF member.

@spence,evidently I read too fast and there is a K-P/thin rosette that I mistakenly looked at. Both of my K-P/rosettes would be 1489 the only difference is the one with the pellets would be Kaplan Subtype A and the one without the pellets would be Kaplan subtype B. Here is the link http://www.forumancientcoins.com/ga...p?album=2232 They would be files 39 and 40.

@eddiediz, ok thanks for the info on the sub-varieties of Hungarian Denars. I have been sticking with Huszar or Frynas, without bothering to attribute my Denars more finely than that. However, it is always good to know that there is more to it if I want. Here is a Spanish 1 Blanca that is undated, but was minted in Madrid between 1454 and 1474. The attribution is C&C 1536.
