Quote: One of my favorite coins in my entire collection. I can see why. That is a lovely half crown.

A nice and clean design with a good looking ship on it.

I have had a lot of fun with Indian coins... Very attractive designs in the British issues, and a HUGE variety of smaller princely states to give you a headache. George V has, in my opinion, one of the more stately and handsome busts of the various British monarchs. Here's an itty bitty cash from the itty bitty state of Travancore, once located on the southern tip of India: At a little under 11mm and a 0.45 grams, this is not quite as record-breaking as the Travancore gold fanams (5-6mm) but is a welcome addition to my "tiny coin" sub-collection. These coins date from about 1928-1949, issued under maharaja Sree Chiritha Thirunal. Travancore gained independence along with the rest of India in 1947, but fought for nearly two years to remain a soverign nation before ceding to pressures to merge. Thirunal remained a figurative maharaja of Travancore until his death in 1991.
