At a little under 11mm and a 0.45 grams, this is not quite as record-breaking as the Travancore gold fanams (5-6mm) but is a welcome addition to my "tiny coin" sub-collection.

Do you have any Russian wire kopeks? They're not quite 5-6 mm either, but they're still really tiny.

I sadly do not have any Indian States coins (and only a few British Indian coins, mostly in very low grade).

And I suppose I might as well post my own Peace dollar - an 1923-S...

Yes, there's a mintmark. Yes, it's about as invisible in hand as on the photo.
I bought this coin for just under spot, mislabeled as 1921 (of course geniune 1921 Peace dollars are much rarer). That was April 2011... "under spot" was $30 - not that I've ever seen Peace dollars cheaper than that (at least, not before the exchange rate doubled in Nov/Dec 2014; prices before and after that point are hard to compare).

Sadly I do not. I was bidding on some once, but the bids got too high for me.

Here is an unusual coin for the 20th century:

China 1 cash 1908-1912, Emperor Puyi. Puyi was but a toddler when he inherited the throne of China, and was a little kid when he was deposed and the Empire abolished. Cast cash were first produced around the 2nd century BC, but the old methods were largely abandoned in China by the 1880s.

Only Vietnam produced cash coins for longer, until the end of WWII.

In light of the recent improving relations between the United States and Cuba I will post my 1915 20 Centavos. This was one of my father's coins and I always liked it.

Some very nice coins for the 20th century!

Last call for the 1900s! We move on to the 1800s tomorrow!

At one point (about two and a half years ago), I only had one each of Byzantine and Ottoman coins - a 4th century coin of Arcadius (which was actually a bit too early to really count as Byzantine), and an Ottoman coin from the 20th century. The former was from Constantinople, the latter from Istanbul; I thought they made such a cool pair that I actually used them in a smackdown (remember when the Ancients subforum has smackdowns? that hadn't happened in far too long).

Since then, I've acquired many more Byzantine coins (though, as it happened, until literally today - completely unrelated purchase - there were still none from after the 6th century). However, the following is still my only Ottoman coin to this day.

(Sorry for the ugly photos; they were made for said smackdown, and in a bit of a hurry. I'm surprised they turned out as well as they did, actually.)

Ottoman Empire, 1 kurush, Mehmed V, 1327//1 [1909 AD]. Constantinople/Istanbul mint (I don't know enough Arabic to say what the mint name on this coin actually is, though I suspect some variation of "Kostantiniyye").

Theoretically silver; between the very small size and the very low fineness, the amount of actual silver in there is downright tiny. I definitely bought this coin (in Vilnius, August 2012) for the historical value, not for the silver.

Queen Victoria: A figure as ubiquitous to coinage of the 19th Century as her great-great granddaughter Elizabeth would become to the century that followed.

Shown are her first and final appearances on the 19th century British penny:

(Disclaimer: I believe this ought to fall within what is allowed per the guidelines, as 1900 is indeed a part of the 19th century, and the majority of the series represented does lie within the 1800s proper)
