I was searching through a couple rolls of 1984 Lincolns (looking for a doubled ear - found none), when I came across this one.

From every angle I can see, it does not appear to be PMD and seems to be part of the die. I'm calling it my "Spock" Lincoln. Anyone have any ideas what this is?

Sorry for the quantity of photos, but I wanted to show every angle/lighting I could to get a good opinion.

Looks like a linear plating bubble. (Basically a gas bubble under the plating) These can occur in the fields or across devices like the example you have.

They would press downward with a toothpick. It could not be a doubled die as it doesn't follow the design like hub doubling would create.

The close ups support you saying it does not appear to be a dent.
The photos from a normal viewing distance seem to look like a dent(like from the edge of another coin). I understand why you would post and thank you for doing so.
Good luck,
Robert
