It is interesting that the seller lives near me (Phoenix area), but says that the item will not post to the US. Only selling to Europe, Asia, and Australia. Possibly a means of trying to skirt postal fraud, or at least make it less likely that someone is going to pursue it, perhaps? Imagine this will get moved to the counterfeit reporting forum, shortly. Worth noting that the seller has sold a grouping of five 1881-O "Morgans" in the past, and has had quite a run on selling Chinese Panda coins. Would not be surprised if someone from overseas is supplying coins to someone with a US address and then spinning them out to people who have some false level of trust in buying from a "US" seller. Not saying that any of that is fooling anyone, but would not be surprised if that is what is going on, either.

Quote: Reported ...No CC dollars were made in 1921. The Carson City Mint didn't make any dollars in 1886 also, but the Chinese are always ready to expand your set if you so desire.

I thought it was now established that as long as the coin bears a date or mint mark that was never actually produced by the mint it is simply a "fantasy" coin and not a counterfeit. Why did this get reported?

Actually, I was being facetious. But that's the rationale used to justify Daniel Carr and the "fantasy" coins he produces, which are often exact duplicates of real coins except for an "impossible" date or mint mark. Whenever the subject comes up, I always ask whether that means that Chinese fakes that have impossible dates are also considered just "fantasy" coins instead of counterfeits, but I never seem to get an answer...

And, as always, the moment I bring the subject up the conversation mysteriously ceases. I'm still waiting to see how a defender of Daniel Carr's "fantasy coins" can justify calling these Chinese products "counterfeits".

BarryG, I think you are on to something. You could have the Chinese Mint produce a Morgan line of all CC dates that were not issued by the U.S. Mint. You could call yours the BarryG CC fantasy line, and this would put you in direct competition with the Moonlight Mint.
Seriously, you make a valid point of where is the line of between a fantasy coin and a Counterfeit coin. I appreciate the work done by Dan Carr as he is a master of his craft, but if it is acceptable for Dan Carr, then, it should be acceptable for anyone to produce fantasy coins. The fantasy coin is a slippery slope as it could get out of control.
