Quote: You mean you don't even have to be MC member to order the coin? You can just phone in to order the gold coin? So much for the rules. What to happened to the "you must be in this tier" blah, blah, etc? What a joke. Sorry, MoneyPenney, I have to clarify here: Not me, I can do this for some more significant (for me) edition, but not for this coin. One of my friends, just recently started to collect "some NCLT", he was inspired by my F15 and also wanted to get these "nice, big and shiny coins", together with this, he discovered, that some of them could bring additional money. So he has experience as CSR in telco company, and when tries to get some item by phone, he is just unstopable...calling again and again. he is Silver MC, so that's probably he founds some poore guy or lady, that can't resists and sells the coin. But - not all the CSRs have access to these coins (this is tiered), so need many many times to ask "manager". No one like to speak with complaining customer, so usually "manager" found, and this manager, no one else, but just more highly tiered CSR. At bottom line, this seems to be working very ugly way (imo), but it still possible.

It still defeats the purpose of the tiered mc system.

One guy buys ten of them and is making a hundred bucks a coin and people are saying the price is dropping like a rock as if to say the gold coin is a dud. Come on seriously? This is the same guy who has ten of the 5 ounce $50 Murano maple leaf coins.

Agreed! The coin is not a dud... just came out yesterday. The pre-seller is trying to make a quick buck. Nobody even has them in-hand!!

I doubt the gold Star Trek coin will be a dud. It should hold its value. I was just responding to CC-Ottawa's comment that the prices were softening on ebay. A few days ago the asking price of a gold Star coin was $1995 on ebay. Now it is as low as $1600 or Best Offer. I call that a considerable drop in price. I don't plan to sell my coin so a drop in price does not matter to me. But for sellers, selling a very expensive coin for a $100 profit can be risky. Coins can be insured only for $500. What if it gets lost?

I wish there was a limit too. Prices would be higher and more stable without flippers undercutting each other. Not sure, but I think the 2 oz voyageur coin had a limit of one. That coin ended up mostly in collectors hands and look how well it did.

I think, this will not repeat 2014 superman, but at that time, the scenario started same way:
many, specially local, pre-sales around price of 1500. Bit after, asking prices reduced to 1200-1300, with only a few sales. And when coin was in hand, they dropped to 1000-1200. One of the sellers generated 5-10 adds in all GTA, having only 1 coin, and asked 1800 (to show volume), another one asked CAD 850 (issue + tax) for coin without package and COA and 1200 for full item. Was interesting to watch..

Just curious, is anyone aware if ebay is changing their Presale Policy or made an exception for the Star Trek gold? ebay.ca Presale Policy Policy overview Presale listings generally consist of items that are offered before they're available to the general public, such as video games, tickets, and custom-made items. (For the rules on magazine subscriptions and certain promotional items and events, see Additional information.) These items often aren't in the seller's control or possession when they're listed. If you want to list presale items, you must meet all of the following criteria: Guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the purchase date. Be sure to clearly state this information in your listing. Clearly indicate in the listing that the item is a presale item. The handling time specified in your listing should reflect the time from the end of the listing until the item is shipped to the buyer. Be sure to specify the correct handling time in your listing. Make sure your listing follows these guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.http://pages.ebay.ca/help/policies/...026168081648

More from the above link: Promotional items and events For promotional items and events, we, at our discretion, may approve a manufacturer like the game publisher mentioned in the examples above to sell items outside of the 30-day presale guidelines—as long as the manufacturer supplies the items. Exceptions are made only for certain promotions and must be approved by us before an item may be listed. Why does ebay have this policy? The presale listing guidelines are designed to allow members to buy and sell items that aren't available yet and to protect members from a potentially bad transaction.

Don't forget, when the 2013 Superman gold came out it made it to the public release and was available for about a day! As of right now, there are only 48 gold Star Trek coins left in the Master's Club pre-release. This coin will sell out today and will not make it to the public. With the lower mintage compared to the 2013 Superman gold, the gold Star Trek coin will be much hotter, not to mention it is pure 9999 gold.
