As a few of us have mentioned, these listings are against ebay pre-sale policy.

I don't think RCM has anything to do with the removal.
Rest in Peace

So not clear, why RCM told to ebay remove the listings....do they like order cancellations?

At this point in time, I don't think the mint had anything to do with the removal of any of the posts.. but like said earlier - ebay policy says any 'pre-sales' can NOT exceed 30 days... with 4 months before the release, these all should be pulled by ebay.

Pulling out ebay pre-sale listing on Star Trek Gold Coin due to 4 month delivery period might be good for future of this coin.

Because less flippers will be interesting on this coin ( can not sell immediately but have to wait 3 more months on ebay )

And more collectors are able to grab 1 coin for collection purpose, which will stabilize prices on secondary market

Am I understanding this hypothetical situation correctly?

A MC member places the order for the Star Trek gold with RCM in May but isn't required to pay for it until the shipping date sometime in Sept.

The MC member lists the presale on ebay, it immediately sells for, say $1800 and so the ebay buyer pays the MC seller $1800.

ebay then releases the $1800 (?) to the MC member who is technically pockets the entire $1800 for four months until sometime in September when it's time to pay up and the Star Trek gold is ready to be shipped, then forwarded onward by the MC member to the ebay buyer.

What's to prevent the MC member from cancelling the order or for that matter anyone on the pretence of having ordered one from listing a Star Trek gold, making a quick $1800, then closing their PayPal account long before September, never to be seen again? It'd likely be into October before the buyer figures out they got scammed.

If this scenario is possible, I can understand why ebay limits presales to a guaranteed in 30 day period. It protects not only buyers from getting ripped off, but eBay/PayPal money back guarantee as well.

13pcs available now.

One of my RCM account is Platinum status but unable to view new Star Trek Coin.

So currently, coins are only available to Platinum Prestige and Platinum Plus?

I am platinum prestige. Received email Thursday and all Star Trek coins were available for viewing since Friday morning on website. The coin has 16.2 grams of pure gold. No tax. Gotta love that!! Face value $200.00.

I have been checking out this forum for a few years until I joined last year; however, I rarely posted.

i really enjoy reading all comments on this forum. On Monday the RCM will probably open up website for all MC Members.

@justsilver

How do you find out how many gold emblems are left? Is there a place on the website?

In shopping cart, just update quantity. It is trial and error.

For example, type 1000 pcs, website will show " insufficient inventory to proceed "

Just lower the number until RCM accepts your desire quantity.

Currently, 13 pcs are accepted by RCM.

Depends where you live in Canada. If you live in a province that has a PST like BC you get charged tax.

Since BC has a PST of 7%, I get a tax of $91 on top of the $1300.

That is why I only bought one gold coin. I may buy another one if it is available from out of province dealers since they don't charge PST.

I wonder how many will be offered to the general public, and when.

RCM charges our credit cards in September when they are shipped.

eBayers can't sell until a month before release.

Most dealers require immediate payment even if the product is not available for months. Will people pay $1,300 (plus tax in some cases) to secure something they won't receive for months? There usually are no refunds for pre-orders, unlike the RCM.
