Can't get my source into trouble, but... noticed this evening that C4F on E-bay has a very pixelated rendering online: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Canada...AOSwubRXJhCt

Just noticed that the pic on the ebay listing is no longer pixelated. Not a coin, not a coin, not a coin. lol

added: I don't see weight or purity on it either. This one is a counterfeiter's dream IMO.

It's also shown in a wooden box that appears to be for a traditional round coin.

C4F also has listing for a bunch of other $10 and $20 ST coins if you're interested.

I think the box is just a stock photo that the Mint uses. It will have a special capsule fit for the coin which will also fit in its own special shaped holder.

Maybe edge lettering is being used?

Agree this piece is not a coin!

My guess is edge lettering, too.

Both dealers have reduced their prices for the gold Delta badge by $50.

Does that mean it will be released soon? The closer to release date, the lower the ebay prices, I've noticed.

Thanks CC-Ottawa for the alert for the other Star Trek coins.

The RCM coin is based on the Delta badge on the uniform of Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series. Only commanders have this insignia - it is the star of a Star Fleet commander.

C4F is showing another 10 proof Star Trek coins ($10 & $20 denomination) are being issued. The $10 series is going to show each of the characters and the $20 issues are going to show favourite moments/ships.

When is the Mint going to stop flooding the market?

The release date of Star Trek Beyond is July 22, 2016? I wonder if the licensing fee paid by RCM was sharply reduced through an arrangement whereby they've taken on an active role in "flooding the market" through promotion of the upcoming movie?

As for the gold "coin", NCLT collectors of silver who are unfamiliar with gold might be taken by surprise at how small in size it will be.

So agree with this.

Just checked the Coins.4.Fun listings....as always I appreciate his effort to list the stuff among the first.
But the coins - RCM couldn't do less attractive than these.
These are like cards, or metal plates or something. So commercial. I am not sure that even fans will be happy, the probably have a tons of pictures like these.

The licensing fees on this type or calibre DC comics or Star Treks parent company has to be wicked, their only goal is to create max profits.

That link - provided above - appears to be dead now. The long arm of the Mint's police has likely blocked display of the coin prior to official release.

but it appears to be re-listed - at a discount from the original $2000.

It's the same listing originally posted by blastofffireworks on page 2. Not a relisting. The quote I used last night didn't capture the link correctly (I updated my quote so hopefully it does now). The listing was just updated with clear pics and slight price drop.

No RCM police action here. lol.

I remember 5-4 years ago such URLs were removed, now even RCM less care and understood:
more (early) exposure = more profit for the Mint

Silveroid's analysis bang on...
like trading cards...photo stickers on metal - not too inspiring; I wouldn't call myself a big fan of the tv series...but I would think even Trekkies will not be too thrilled with this collection.
