The Delta Gold Star Trek looks really nice in hand. The slab listing has been removed. I wonder why? I have no complaints on how RCM packaged this item.. For one person to make such a comment to all who purchased this item and compare it to a "dollar store" type packaging .....is quite insulting to all collectors who take pride in ownership of this Gold Delta Star.

Quote: But if I'm looking at the photo of the NGC stabbed coin correctly, oddly the inset/holder is a solid coloured piece. So only one side of the coin would be visible --- yet the seller's photos show both sides of the coin facing outward? The "white" insert has empty space, exactly where the coin sits, so it visible on both sides and coin doesn't contact the insert. Wondering, why the seller didn't ask for "Star Trek" themed label. Thank you @silveroid Do not really care to see the coin in the slab. Just frustrated with people that say the RCM placed "dollar store" packaging on the Gold Star Trek delta when they don't even have one.

Don't be frustrated, New, due to people opinion. The coin - is a small piece of art, and this one - not from the cheapest. We are (people) usually judge the art related items, that we don't have (paintings, sculpture, architecture, jewellry), so its normal. RCM could do more with the packaging, but if we remember, our Canadian gold pieces of art (1912-1914 BoC hoard gold coins) came exactly with this type of foam.

Thanks for the clarification! Then I like it! As for the foam insert, my opinion of course, but I'd be concerned about potential deterioration on the long term, inside that capsule. I'm not talking anytime soon but foam generally does not withstand the test of time. Many of us can recall the mess of the rotting flocking in the coin sets of the early 70s, causing damage to the coins.

That was me and my intention was certainly not to insult anyone who purchased the Delta gold. The packaging and coin itself are two different things. Having collected coin for many years, it's absolutely devastating to discover that the material and cases that coins have been securely stored in can sometimes cause severe and irreversible damage to coin over time. For example when PCV was first used in the manufacturing of plastic, nobody guessed over the years it would literally melt into a greenish mess and eat metal. My opinion only - not asking to be proven right or wrong because nobody can forcast the future - but I would not want to leave foam inside a capsule that contains a valuable coin and this is one I would get slabbed since there's really no other way to keep it in place,

The ebay listing, that we spoke about, has already 68 bids and current bid on ~ CAD 1400, and has still 9 days to go! Looks like only 8 exists with the same grade, so seems to be desired item. Let's see .....

An auction listing gold delta went for $1624 on Sept.22. That guy certainly did not make much money after the fees.
Puzzling why anyone would go for an auction listing when you could easily sell it for around $2000 with Buy it Now. Or just bring to a local dealer and he will probably give you $1500 for it.

Only 1500 mintage, wouldn't the same die be used throughout? A different issue was posted in the Cdn coin error forum: https://goccf.com/t/269990

I would guess that for 1500 coins there would be only one set of dies... working on getting my pictures posted.

When a die is cracked, as a result the thin line on the coin is raised. It appears that the lines on your coin are indented, indicative of some type of damage occurring during the minting process. Considering the value of this coin, you'd definately want to a good second opinion, hopefully one of the experts here will chime in. But NCLT errors are seldom considered "collectable" in the same way as circulated coin, one of the reasons RCM offers 1 year returns (if I recall correctly) for defective products.

Looks like struck through some hair or wire, certainly should have been caught and rejected. error is not dramatic enough to be worth a premium in my opinion.
