What do you guys think of the colorized Star Trek silver coins?

I think they look awful, very amateurish. The Perth Mint did a much better job with its Star Trek coin.

The only one worth getting is the gold one but it may be sold out before I have an opportunity to buy one. I am sure that will be a very hot coin.

Agree 100%. These are no comparison to the Perth Mint releases, IMO.

I'll get a few 20 for 20 coins...and the gold one, if possible. I also believe that will be a hit.

I was looking forward to this series of coins...I like the lettering BUT the colouring sticker like image of the characters is a turn off...why not just seek out a poster of these characters instead...
I think there was a lot more room for creativity and I'm not talking about including transponder the Perth did...
Why not an affordable delta emblem on silver with gold plating for instance...preferably on a round "coin".

Great idea! I think I'll print out a gold emblem and glue it onto one of my silver rounds.

Much more affordable, and it might even look better than the RCM stickers.

I will agree with MoneyPenney post:

the silver coins less attractive than Perth's and there is already overflood of them.

The gold one probably will have 2000 mintage priced ~CAD 1300 and will be very popular (similar to other novelty stuff).
(so remember, if you want to get it - with the first leak about availability - just call the mint and say "You have this coin, I want to buy it").

I think something similar to this will be minted, but first - need to sell the gold and expensive one.

As reported on the other forum, Canada Post is releasing the Star Trek stamps on May 5.

That means the RCM Star Trek coin release will be imminent. Possibly as early as this week, probably next week.

So be alert and get ready to order the gold Star Trek coin at a moments notice.

I've heard from Canadian Coin that they will be releasing the Star Trek Coins on May 13th.

They have no idea about the gold emblem.

I believe the release date for star trek coins is Thursday, possibly for master club prestige first. The gold coin mintage is 1500 ( what I have been told). No idea of price range.

My guess for gold coin is $1,299.95.

@moneyPenney, the release date for new coins at Canada Post is May 5th....Did not see gold coin there.

@ Looney4Numi, CC&C always has advance notice for VIP"s ......so notice for these coins should come right after RCM release on Thursday. Just my opinion. May be wrong but this is how it usually is with my notices.

Thanks, New1954. I hope you're right.

I specifically asked someone at CC&C if VIP's will get advance notice, and the person I spoke to said "No. May 13th will be the release date for everyone."

Sometimes people make mistakes, so I hope this person is wrong! Also, she knew nothing about a Star Trek gold coin.

Will watch carefully.

All of the listings for the Star Trek coins at Coins.4.fun has been pulled. Is the RCM the finally cracking down?

Interesting. Lose lips sink ships?

Where is the guy anyway? Strangely silent on these coins given that he's usually the first to post about new releases.

I think the pre-sale Star Trek listings were pulled because release of the image is prior to the date on the TradeMark licence that RCM acquired. Ordinary NCLT, RCM appears to appreciates the free ebay pre-advertising without regard to the source of leaked images.

As reported on the other forum, reps have sent out emails for the Gold Star Trek coin to people in the top tiers of MC. They say the mintage is 1500.

I wonder if people in the lower tiers will even get a chance to order.
