Quote: Oh and by the way, if they don't attribute the Cook coin correctly you are out of luck. NGC does not guarantee attributions. This is why I only sent a small submission in as I haven't had a coin graded by NGC for about 3 years now

Might have to look into that aswell, submitted mine to PCGS 45 business days ago and still nothing, customers are about to kill me as sent them the estimate when I submitted (27days) and said give or take a couple. Funny thing is everytime I check the "estimated turnaround" its one day longer than the last time so my submission is still no closer :( Waiting a month is bad, waiting 3-4 months from submission for results is becoming a non-viable option

Luckily all the coins I send to be graded are my own. I hadn't thought about the dealers that send coins away on behalf of their customers. These extended delays in finalising a submission would have to be detrimental to their business and to their reputation. Which is quite unfair because the delays are not their fault.

Just got my results after a 2 and a bit month wait, lucky me right! Wrong. They graded 18 out of a 53 coin submission as the wrong country, without varieties (mules as standard $1), missing SD's as standards and called them straight away to get it fixed but "oh sorry that order is finalised, send us photos when they get back and we'll let you know what to do then. Not sure my customers will survive another 2 month turnaround to get them fixed. Whatever is going on with them I think their reign as number one is not going to last long

I had a look at your submission last night on the Shared submissions page, What a Mess. It almost looks like some teenager did the grading on that one, It is Full of simple Basic mistakes that should NEVER happen with a TPG that has a reputation as high as PCGS. These "Mechanical Errors" ( What a quaint name for a Stuff up) are becoming more regular as of late and it is starting to look like PCGS has "Dropped the Ball". It is bad enough when my own coins come back with these sort of results, I can only imagine what you are going through explaining what has happened to your customers because of this.

Turnaround appears really slow from my perspective as well. I renewed a Platinum membership to submit 8 USA coins. PCGS received my submission on June 8 and grading remains "in process" as of today. Still waiting, mostly patiently......

The popularity of getting Bullion coins now being graded and the acceptance of PCGS coins in the Australian market has increased dramatically over the last couple of years and this would have to impact on the workload at PCGS. Maybe they haven't foreseen this and are now playing "catch Up" and this is reflected in the increasing turnaround times. Just the 2016 Gold Mercury coin has added about 8,000 coins to be graded since their release alone.
The trouble is now that they are making more mistakes than is usual, probably due to them trying to keep pace with demand and are starting to Rush things.
I don't know about you guys But I personally am not prepared to pay Top Dollar for what is starting to become a second rate service lately and will be sitting this one out until PCGS can get back to providing the service that made them #1 in the first place.

In defence of PCGS ( no I am not a PCGS supporter) lately the turnaround times from ALL the Graders has been very slow. Last order to ANACS, ICCS and NGC were all well in excess of normal wait times. PCGS is far from # 1 these days. Said it before and will say again they cannot grade to consistent standard foreign coins , especially Canadian.

Well that was fun, just told everyone PCGS has potentially stuffed the submission and may need to redo quite a few. So far abuse levels have been relatively high :( Several have asked for their coins back from my next submission already. Makes business hard when you tie your name to PCGS and get this outcome.

Not only are the turnaround times experiencing extended delays, The images that are supplied with a "Secure" submission are also experiencing delays as well. Normally the images are available within about a 24hr period after the grading results are available, It has been nearly a week so far since my last lot of results and yet still NO images.

Quote: It "Sucks" when you have to wear the abuse for something that is totally out of your control Make sure you warn them of this potential problem BEFORE you take consignments for submission. Sure they will still complain, but then you can remind them that you warned them beforehand. Some will still blame you, but others will put the blame where it belongs and understand that it isn't your fault.

Yeah I warn based on what has been PCGS standard turnaround times for my last pile of submissions but not that I would have to resubmit to fix errors. I will be adding to future orders though that "if problems arise with the submission and grading, turnaround times can be significantly extended" as not doing this again.

I have had an "Express" submission at PCGS since 5/13/2016. The estimate on the submission form states a 5 working day turnaround and is currently 13 working days on the PCGS website. It has now been 24 working days so far and still NO grade yet. Am I being unreasonable in asking that I NOT be charged the express rate of $65 per coin as this is taking pretty much as long as an economy submission normally takes to get done ? This is 5x as long as quoted on the submission form and nearly twice as long as is quoted on the website so far

I would say that it is perfectly reasonable that trout expect to pay based on the turn-around times PCGS publishes.
24 working days is in the "economy" 20-30 day time frame on both the submission form and (from what I've seen) on the PCGS website.
I haven't seen the longer turnaround times trout mentioned, perhaps they were posted more recently? Even using those longer time periods, 24 working days is almost twice as long as promised -- as trout pointed out.
In this case I would hope that PCGS would charge the lower "regular" rate of $30, maximum. The submission forms list a turnaround time of 15 days for regular service.

Over 2 months ago, we sent five (5) submissions -- a total of 59 coins -- to PCGS.
They received them all on May 23.
So far we have received four (4) of the submissions back. They were shipped by PCGS on: 6/16; 6/27; 7/7; and 7/18.
The 5th submission is still "In Process".
The most recent submission we received was also the largest -- 25 coins. PCGS had that submission for 40 business days. Unfortunately, although we had ordered "Secure Service" they forgot to take the photos. One of those "Mechanical Errors".
They are paying for everything except the secure service fee of $5/coin, but according to the rep I've exchanged emails with, mechanical errors have a turn-around time of 2 weeks to 2 months! In my opinion, since "mechanical error" is a euphemism for "Oops, we messed up..." PCGS should give mechanical error corrections expedited service. After all -- the customer has in many cases already waited well beyond the claimed turnaround time for their coins to be returned -- only then to find out that the coins must be re-submitted.
Something I found odd was that although PCGS uses the USPS Priority Mail to return coins, and they encourage customers to use USPS Registered Mail for submissions, they gave me a FedEx Ground label. PIck-up is not included. We live in a semi-rural area, so that meant I had to drive at least 15 miles to drop off the box at a FedEx store. Then, to make it worse, it was Friday night and their next pick-up wasn't until Monday evening -- and this was at a large FedEx store (used to be a Kinkos/FedEx). Priority Mail would be much more convenient, not to mention faster.
I recently asked about the 5th submission but have received no response. It has been 48 business days and counting...
