Hello I'm new to this forum. In fact I'm new to coin collecting. I am particularly interested in error coins, I guess it's the perfectionist in me. I never want to pass off a coin that has been counterfeited and am interested in selling on ebay. I have this unusual looking 1991 D penny that has a large second number nine and an indented D, it also has two indents on the collar beneath the bust. Is this a real error. I appreciate any input.

Hello and

To me the coin looks a bit beaten up and I get the impression that someone had some fun with a nail and a hammer or so to get to this 9 and D. I don't think that this is a 'genuine' error, as in made by the Denver mint.

to CCF. What you have is a normal Lincoln Cent with zinc rot. Not a doubled die. Value= one cent.

Looks like the plating was split and the zinc got air to it and is now breaking down. Looks like the same event happened to the mint mark.

Oh well I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nothing special. But I like looking at it. Thank you for your help.
