Have you asked the cat which coins are preferred? Is the cat going to be joining us here on this forum?

Cat love sitting or lying on top of what you are examining closely, or are reading.
It is their way of getting themselves noticed.
Most of us silly humans just tolerate this sort of feline behaviour.

Oh yes, the very very rare Seated Cat pattern dollar. Only known in a greyish alloy.

I forgot to update this thread. The coins are all counterfeit. My cat was eying my shiny things, so I gave her some of my counterfeits to play with. She was quite happy.

I'm also surprised everyone was concerned about the dollars when there was a BU reverse of 1794 large cent in plain sight.

owning coin from the site we do not mention is sometimes a good thing. You can use them to fine tune your skills in spotting fakes.

Cats love shiny things. I am glad it was a planned encounter.

You are NOBODY until you've been ignored by a cat.

I don't think any sane coin collector would sit there, take pics and let their cat bat around their collection. LOL glad to hear it was a photo op!

Somewhere in the wood work of our old piano rests a small Roman bronze that our cat Libby grabbed in her mouth, ran off with and dropped in there while I was chasing her trying to retrieve it. How she managed to drop it in that tiny opening between two pieces of wood I will never know.

Fortunately, it was a well-worn little coin with no real value.

I have had both cats and dogs, so I can say that is about right.

We have a Jack Russell Terrier named Jasper.
He always follows me to the "coin room" and sleeps on my feet while I'm sitting at my table, sometimes for hours.
Sometimes he gets up, walks out to sit beside my chair, looks at me. He'll get his petting, and a brief conversation, then he goes back under the table to lay on my feet.

We have a 4 month old cat named Sapphire as well.
This female creature is both adorable and worrisome while I'm doing my coins. Her interest in what I'm doing there never ends.
I dont love her or find her adorable, while she leaps onto my legs, claws out, to literally scale me and get to the table. I mean, when you've just been sitting there quietly for a couple hours, minding your own business, then in an instant, with no warning, you're screaming bloody murder and hurling obscenities ...well...not cool.
She's leaped onto my back several times too, to climb me, with no warning either, while I'm just quietly sitting there, to "show me love" & that she's interested in what I'm doing too....
She jumps on the table too, walking right over whatever I'm doing, between my magnification tool and my face. All in 2 seconds, so I can't prevent, or see her coming.
Keeps getting in my open boxes of coin stuff on the floor right next to me, either playing or going to sleep there.
And EVERY coin that I misplace or temporarily lose, I blame on her.. () The wife & daughter "generally" know better than to mess with my coins...
Jasper would never get pleasure from causing me pain, stress, and anguish! ---

So, it's been MY experience that dogs are VERY coin friendly...
Cats are not ! --
(And you may even be bleeding after a curious stealthy unprovoked interaction while working on your coins!)

I've never had painful problems with cats who have regularly trimmed claws. Those that are allowed to stay sharp, however, have drawn blood on multiple occasions.
