This is the first time I've ever returned an item I purchased on ebay. I thought I was supposed to go through PayPal. Well after hearing all of you say to go through ebay money back guarantee, I read up on it. One of the ebay money back guarantee rules states that if I've already opened up a claim through PayPal, I can't open it with ebay. So I guess I kinda shot myself in the foot there... Taken from the link wildflower provided: "buyers can choose to go through either PayPal Purchase Protection or ebay Money Back Guarantee to resolve a claim. After selecting which resolution process to use, a buyer can only use that process to settle the transaction issue." Edited by XWLCoins

Ppal works the same way for the returns. There is a place you supply the tracking number. When you do this, as far as I know you will be refunded that as well. Just to be sure, here is the tel. # if you want to give them a call & don't have it on hand. 1888-221-1161

Just a question related to the real coin in question does anyone think it's just weird colour from the pictures or is it no chrome? Did you think this when you were buying it xwl? Obviously 50 bucks for an MS66 normal would have been a good deal either way.

XWLCoins. In an earlier post a short time ago you said it would cost you $10
to return the item via Paypals policy. Did you actually open a claim or just
make an inquiry?

@talonbat- I wasn't thinking missing chrome, it just looked like a beautiful example and a great price.
@everest- I opened the claim, PayPal reviewed it and they decided I would be entitled to a refund if I return it. I have to provide them with a tracking # ( registered letter mail is $9.85 which is the cheapest option for tracked mail)

The cost with tracking to return a single coin that is as described or not as described is the same. But I still have to dish out the $10 and only when all is said and done will I get all my money back provided I provide the tracking number as proof of shipping. Once a seller actually deposited the return money in my Ppal account which was very nice. I sent it back without opening a claim & when he received it, he refunded my original payment plus shipping. Sellers like this are less than a dime a dozen.

I would call them. This might mean you have to pay it & then you will be reimbursed once it is delivered. I can't see ebay & Ppal being sister companies having such a vast difference in return policies when it's not the buyer's fault & the item was defective or 'Not as Described'... Sucks but it seems you're screwed via policy.
5.2 When the buyer files a claim for PayPal Buyer Protection because the item received significantly differs from the seller's item description, the buyer is required upon request of PayPal to return the item at his own expenses to the seller, or to another person or address as requested by PayPal during the claims process, as well as to provide appropriate proof of shipment. The proof of shipment needs to contain at least the details required in the Seller Protection Policy for a proof of shipment of the Seller. PayPal will not request such return if there is the reasonable suspicion that the return of the item would result in a violation of existing law. PayPal reserves the right to request further documentation from the buyer to support the claim. The buyer has to bear any costs that may arise from this request.
Maybe they'll listen to reason and you can phone paypal and tell them that they stole photos from another eBayer and it was a clear cut scam.

XWL has said it before You pick one or the other and follow the required steps. PayPal is actually an independent company now, didn't know that before! 2015-present (Wikipedia) PayPal has their own policies as there are possibly millions of companies that use them for payment processing - ebay being one of them. |
