This is one of the first silver coins I pulled from circulation, and really started my collection. I was thinking of getting it professionally graded, but I don't want to break the bank if it isn't worth it. Also does the black on the obverse decrease the value. I know never to clean a coin. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Awesome circulation find. I don't think it justifies grading, keep it raw.

From what I see it is an AU coin and quite desirable for the series. I would only have it graded if you were planning to sell it.

Might check ANACS website for coin grading specials.
LOVE the coin....especially with the story!! Thank you for sharing.

I agree, keep it raw. It's a bit more personal that way, to me.
That reverse is simply gorgeous. I like the obverse, looks like toning from here. Nice AU example, and with a backstory like that, if it were me, t'would be the centerpiece of my collection, no doubt.
Could you maybe try for a sharper photo of the obverse? I am really curious about what is going on with the surfaces.

Coin looks AU but the obverse tone concerns me. Might be some environmental surface damage under that dark tone. A pic with more lighting might help.

This is a real nice find as the 1919 is a tough date . I'm thinking more like EF-45 . but I'm not sure about the obverse. hard to see through all that black ox. You did right by not trying to clean it . Do not send it in . keep it just the way it is .

Maybe acetone rinse it to truly see the full details of the coin. No harm in trying. If it doesn't appear to have any issues then I'd definitely send it to ANACS for a quick turnaround and to see what grade she is. You could have a potentially valuable coin here.

Looks AU to me, and for that sort of value, I'd try to get it holdered for sure.

Probably right, but this is worth a ton even in a straight EF holder.

Really nice find! I would have to go EF on the obverse and a solid AU on the reverse.

I'm thinking an XF grade, but if it were me I'd keep it raw. Best of luck!
