Quote:I can see huge bidding wars for these on ebay! You follow the Law of Attraction? Only Joking! If this occurs, I'd guess it will be due to worldwide interest, as opposed to Canadian.

Whether or not there is a bidding war depends on how many of the gold delta coins are listed out there on ebay. Historically prices drop when market becomes flooded with coins. List it early, ideally as pre-sale before everyone gets the coin.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2016-100-Tuv...AOSwhOdXn~tfAnd there you have it, all 3 of the Perth Mint gold coins sold out. I would not underestimate the pockets of Trekkies, if they want a rare collectible, they will pay up. Realistically, if they can afford this coin, they will want the gold delta too, which is much cooler in design and is more affordable than 1 oz of gold.

These coins haven't been purchased by Trekkies. People non coin collectors do not care and even didn't heard of commemorative coins. Let's say, few of them - yes - bought or will buy the coin for $2000. Dealers and coin collectors stand behind clearing the stocks. Specialyy these coins - they will be sent for grading, to potentially to increase their value...... Absolutelly same story of the Superman coins

However, if someone is willing to spend $2800 CDN on a Star Trek themed gold coin, they must have some kind of interest in Star Trek wouldn't you think?

Yes, you right. So in my opinion these are coin collectors first off all with the interest of Sci Fi and probably raised on the Star Trek. But sure its only imo. Yes, we can't say for sure.

Those Perth Mint gold Star Trek coins on ebay sold for issue price. Issue price was $2800 and that is what they sold for. Comparing those them to the RCM gold coin is like comparing oranges and apples. The Perth one is at 400 mintage and they are not sold out at dealers or at the Perth Mint itself. The gold coin is still in stock at Perth but you cannot order outside of Australia. But they are still available at dealers like Downies for issue price. http://www.downies.com/perth-mint-c...uctview.aspxJust because some people spent $2800 on Perth Gold Star Trek coins does not mean people are willing to spend $2800 on the RCM gold Star Trek coin. The Perth coin has double the amount of gold (1 oz vs 1/2 oz) and almost one quarter of the mintage (400 vs 1500).

I didn't say that the gold star trek delta would sell for $2800, I just thought that if someone is buying star trek gold coins, they would want the gold delta as well.

The people who bought the 1 oz gold Perth Star Trek coin may want the RCM coin as well but at what price? There is a lot of wild speculation on this thread regarding the gold delta coin. Some people are very optimistic about the coin saying there will be a bidding war for it or it will sell for double issue price.

The "sold" prices for the RCM delta averaged about $2,000. They were available for viewing before ebay pulled the listings. One sold for $2,295, a few sold for $1,950 to $2,000, and one sold for $1,800. Just stating the facts.
