I thought that the 200/200 face value coin was to be released in May 2016. Does anyone have any info on why this has been delayed? Or do I have my months wrong?

Although I know nothing about a May $200 for $200, I notice that not all NCLT is released right at the beginning of the month.

@wildflowerAB
My rep sent me a pre-order sheet last December 2015 to fill out the quantities I wanted for face value coins and the release dates were as follow:
20/20 January 2016 (T-Rex)
20/20 February 2016 (Batman v Superman) 50/50 February 2016 (Hare)
100/100 April 2016 (Orca)
20/20 May 2016 (Star Trek)
ALL THE ABOVE HAPPENED
200/200 May 2016
25/25 was for June 2016
200/200 September 2016
25/25 October 2016 100/100 October 2016
I will email my rep. I just noticed that the letter did state that dates are subject to change. Also, have you noticed that all of a sudden all the 2015 200/200 are all sold out and yet last week they were still available.

It is my understanding that any coin at the mint, is taken off the web site after a year. This could explain a coin appearing last week, and gone this week, if it was issued a year ago. Although, they usually have a notice of 'get them before they are gone!'

@Dcadon
Coastal Waters 2015 (a year must have passed)
Rugged Mountains 2015 must have come out in October (a year has not passed) Also, it was on the best seller list for May 27, 2016
Just strange that all of a sudden Rugged Mountains listed as SOLD OUT.

My apologies New, this is now the month of June! Indeed, May was last month, reminder to self to flip the calendar page! The Rugged Mountain $200 was #14 for the last two weeks. It's seems possible it did sell out. https://goccf.com/t/261739But I notice it had a limit of 2 per household. So limits on XforX is not just a recent thing?

The 200/200 officially cancelled for 2016. The next 100/00 probably will be cancelled for 2016. ( It was supposed to be an Elk) This is what the RCM meant about taking action against the adjustment of over 8 million dollars face value redemption, in their first quarter. Those that played the game to achieve higher status with MC only via purchasing these coins will no longer be able to BUY AND RETURN to banks. Really is sad. I love those 200/200 coins.

That is disappointing, but $8,000,000 is a lot of coins being returned. I figured there were a number of people returning the coins after increasing their 'club status'... but wow.. that's a big number. 40,000 coins of the $200 variety....even more if it was 100's 50's, or 20's.

8 million dollar redemption should include all $ for $ coins. Wondering any impact on secondary market on current existing $200 for $200 coins if RCM decided to permanently discontiue $200 for $200 program?

200/200 May 2016 - scratched
25/25 was for June 2016 -?
200/200 September 2016 - probably scratched
25/25 October 2016 -? 100/100 October 2016 -?
All $20s have been released for 2016
@ New1954 did your rep happen to mention what of the other 2016 XforXs? One thing, I think it's real shoddy that RCM won't communicate with their customers, most of all MC. Instead they place the onus on you to inquire as to why they're not following through with what they originally informed you of. What, they just hope you all might forget? In a standard business emvironmnet, this tactic would certainly guarantee any company a bad reputation. Government operations...it seems it's become a standard. Just another question, what date is the cut-off to attain whatever level of annual MC membership status?

The math says one single sold out issue, mintage of 300,000 X $20 = $6 million. The $ amount that's been minted and sold over the past 5 years has to be well into the hundreds of millions so it clearly was not an adjustment to account for redemptions of all XforX. According to RCM's press releases the $8.7 million was only for "recent returns": "A first quarter adjustment of $8.7 million was recognized to account for recent returns of face value coins, causing overall Numismatics revenues to decline nearly 8% in Q1 2016, compared to the same 2015 period. Management is taking steps to mitigate sales returns in the future." http://www.mint.ca/store/news/la-mo....V1CFjpDOerUWithin the financial statement I recall it being mentioned the figure accounts for returns over two quarters (6 months).

Quote: 8 million dollar redemption should include all $ for $ coins. Not to make this an accounting practice forum but it's not an $8.7M redemption of coins. In Q12016, there were $1.6M of actual returns, as well as a $5M increase in accrued liabilities for estimated future sales returns (up from $2M as at December 31st). On the surface, that is fairly aggressive accounting. Also worth noting that this provision/accrued liability and the reported returns are not necessarily just numismatics though one could assume most if not all of them are. Regardless, it definitely indicates that RCM management believes that many more of the FV coins will be redeemed. It's also worth noting that the provision has not been independently reviewed as Q1 results are unaudited.

The deadline for MC status deadline is June 30th, 2016. The new start date for next cycle is July 1st, 2016. My rep says he keeps asking management for a letter and nothing has been forthcoming as of yet. I told him how upset I was that he did not inform me about the cancellation. He said he was sorry and that he would re-order me the 100/100 face value coins should RCM issue them in October; however, on my subscription order for this series, it currently shows that the 100/100 Elk has been cancelled. The 25/25 face value coin subscription appears on the website, so that will go through. You are so right wildflowerAB. A government organization can do whatever they want and not even inform their clientele. As you say, they probably thought no one would notice. I did notice because of the advance order form I filled out last Decrmber. What a bunch of cowards.

I'll also add that I think the Mint is seeing it's chickens come home to roost. They sold the FV coins as a currency exchange. Yet they made little to no effort to put policies in place to exchange them. Add that to The Royal Mint basically orphaning their FV coins and it's easy to see why there has been a rush to cash them in here in Canada. By my count, there have been about $200M in sales of x for x coins since their inception.

The Mint stated in the report, "Management is taking steps to mitigate sales returns in the future."
Could this mean that down the road, the coins can only be redeemed like a gift certificate for Mint products directly with the Mint? That sentence scares me that perhaps down the road, the banks will not accept them at FV for deposits.
