Speculation:-When-To-Cash-In....

Well it seems that early speculators on this coin can already start to cash-in... I wonder if this is a temporary boost, or if it's just the beginning. I can see how it might be "fun" to speculate, but I'm pretty sure I'd hate doing it for a living.

My focus is simply on coins that appeal to me for this or that reason. (I'm not a huge fan of the coloured coins, but this one appealed to me because of the borosilicate).

That is a beautifully designed coin!
I'm not familiar with it... What was the release price and what do you think the market is at now?

The release price for this 1 oz. was 149.95 Canadian. and until very recently you could still get it for that price through Canada Post. I saw today on ebay that the sellers are asking between $170-200 for it. Probably a temporary bubble since it's no longer at the mint or post office, I'll guess... but this is all new to me so I'll keep watching -- maybe I'll learn something.

I wouldn't get too excited, the last few sold prices on ebay are $150 ish and one of those was a pf 69 slab.

If you paid $150 for the coin you need to price the coin on ebay for like a min of $170 (to cover fees) just to break even and $180 to $200 to make a small profit.

Nice coin but I don't think its going to be another glass lady bug.

Still available at issue price at the Post Office and some dealers.

Asking prices don't provide an accurate value of a coin. Finished auctions is what you should look for. And most sold for around issue price on ebay.
Also look at mintage. 8500 for this coin is a bit high, so very little chance of price appreciation.

Having read all that, these 'universe' coins are very appealing to me. I got the set.

wow this is a really stunning coin. Good pic/scan BTW.

I purchased a telescope for my kids about 3 years ago and we never got into the SETI frenzy. I guess we should take a look again.
