I thought it was interesting to flip through a 2011 charlton guide book and take a look at all the $20 coins listed. Since then, there's around twice as many $20 coins.
I'd like to see a $21 coin just for a change.

You might be waiting a long while, unless the Royal Canadian Mint Act is amended! By legislated authority, these are the various denominations of non-circulating coin that RCM is permitted to issue. http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/...-4.html#h-14Sorry, $21 does not appear on the list. Quote:

Very wise investment of time in my opinion! The 2015 RCM Collector Coin and Maple Leaf version (Volume 2) has been separated from Cdn Coins -circulation (Volume 1) and has sprouted quickly to 450 pages of NCLT. In fact Volume 2 is larger than all 150 years of Cdn Coinage included in Volume 1.

I've been wondering when we'll see a "Volume 3" and how the volumes will be divided?

I notice on Amazon that the 2016 Charlton Volume 2 is 504 pages. For reasons unknown, they've chosen to entirely omit XforX from the listings, in the 2015 version so I'm assuming same in 2016 so it has the potential of substantially increasing if that were included. But even by adding over 50 pages each year of new releases, I think Volume 3 is just around the corner.

The first Charlton Standard Catalogue I ever purchased was the 52nd Edition (1998). It has a smaller page size than the current catalogues and included a 32-page Introduction that devoted the majority of its pages to the grading of Canadian coins, 285 coin pages with mintage and pricing information and a three-page Glossary of numismatic terms. The book covered all Canadian coins, circulation and "Collector" (the way it referred to the RCM's NCLT releases), and also included a discussion of the coins that were used in Canada before the release of its own official coinage. The NCLT section was 72 pages and featured far fewer denominations than today. The lowest denomination was 25 cents and the highest was $200. Times sure have changed!

Maybe $x for $x would be future volume 3?

The earliest edition I have is 2002, 4 years later. The NCLT section is 110 pages and the entire book, 338 pages. The first 22 pages contain samples of valuable old coins from France and the USA. The increase in NCLT pages appears to be a result of various millennium commemorative sets that were released in y2K.

It being included in Charlton's Collector Coin listings would seem logical to me as it's released by RCM. Even though the face value and estimated value would be equal, I've found the NCLT Vol 2 to be valuable in identifying other full series or themes from past years. XforX, by not being included, the perception is given that it's not worthy of mention.

The $20 for $20 is listed in the 2015 guide book but it's listed towards the back of the book with the maple leaf issues. I assume this is because the silver weight is on the coin.

@ Redzapsid Thank you very much, I found it - page 433. I never thought to search for XforX within the Silver Maple Leaf section.

I knew they had to be there somewhere. It's very interesting to see the values they place on these coins. Or all coins in general. Can't say I agree with trends.

WildflowerAB,
I don't think that 1 million dollar denomination has been there very long. Lol. I'm going to start a petition.

I believe the largest coin record has been beat by a 1 tonne gold coin.
