I'm glad people are finally getting their boxes/credits. I still haven't got anything. Perhaps they are annoyed by my countless emails.

I received my $130 credit today and put an order in for the MC case. I think I'm pretty well done with the RCM except for the face value coins($20 for $20-$50 for $50 etc) so it will probably be my last MC reward. I'm hoping they continue with face value coins but don't have a great feeling about it. Like everyone else I'm upset by the number of coins being put out every month by the mint and their inability to hold their value. Very discouraging when you see a coin that you paid $120 for on sale for $70 or $80 a few months later on the secondary market. I have 3 years of The Fabulous 15 Collection that I probably paid $1500 each for and I doubt their worth 50% of that now. I'm not a flipper but like things I can buy and enjoy that hold their value or close to their value and can be passed on to children & grandchildren in the future. Except for a coin or 2 a year this doesn't happen to most of the RCM products. So I will be cutting way back on RCM purchases in 2017 while I look for another hobby I can spend my few dollars of disposable income on ! Happy New Year to everyone on CCF !

You can still stick to this hobby, David.
Commemorative circulation coins, XforX, bullion coins or very narrow theme (silver and base metals) will be good choice.

There is so much more to the coin collecting hobby than buying the RCM's modern NCLT issues! Pick up a Charlton Catalogue of of Canada's circulating coins and spend some time flipping through its pages - you might you are attracted to a good number of past coins that would make for an excellent collection that is fun to assemble.

Just FYI for any of those MC members who received the redemption code and already own a box - you will not be able to order another one online.
I tried and the website stated that I had reached my limit (1 per household). I suppose I'll have to find some coin that I don't really want to order. Any suggestions?

Quote: I suppose I'll have to find some coin that I don't really want to order. Any suggestions? Well...let's correct the RCM incompetency: Both 100for100 coins (Orca and Cougar) are available on mint.caOrder them, and upon delivery, deposit them at the Bank. No sentiments here, you have to receive back your money.

Yes, yes, yes what commems said below: Quote:There is so much more to the coin collecting hobby than buying the RCM's modern NCLT issues! The fun, challenge and learning that can be achieved through coin collecting goes far beyond what RCM tells people they should hurry and buy each month. And especially in the hope that collections will be appreciated if passed down to children and grandchildren, years later they won't care if the purchase month and the release date were the same.

This is interesting point...whatever sounds important for us, for them will be the same coin that need to keep or get rid off. Imagine thick notebook with the coins list and records like: "Purchased on the Christmas sale, 50% discount" "Got a bargain on ebay, paid only $20" "Do not detach the Ladybug from the coin, it has $1000 value) "MC special coin, managed to get for issue"

Got the letter this morning and got the same offer most people are getting - $130 or a case.
The $130 is supposed to be a "topped up" of the redemption code so it is a equivalent value to the case you are entitled to.
So the question is: case or $130? Given I already have a case, I am leaning to using the $130. I want to get the 150th anniversary set but that one is sold out. Now to find a coin I want before the March 31, 2017 expiry.

Received mine today also. Since I already have the box, I've been pondering Silveroid's logical suggestion to cash in: Quote: Both 100for100 coins (Orca and Cougar) are available on mint.caOrder them, and upon delivery, deposit them at the Bank. However, upon a closer look at the footnote I see that we can't use this code to buy Face Value coins, like the $100 for $100. Too bad. That way we could have bought two coins at half price instead of one at issue price (with patience).
