Ya but how was it damaged. I would think a hammer and chisel would transfer some damage to the obverse. And they spent a lot of time doing this.

It was done with a grinding wheel or other similar device which exposed the copper core at the edge.

i appreciate the feedback/it is so uniform if they used a grinding wheel they are good

You can also see the damage on the eagles head. It wasn't struck at the mint that way. PSD
