Before I forget, here is the setup I used for these latest photos: Canon EOS Rebel T4i (18MP), Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM lens set at 100mm, f/8, ISO-400 and a 31mm auto ectension tube. The macro flash was mounted but not used. The styrofoam blocks prevent hard shadows without cutting too much light.  |

More excellent photos, clair. And nice rig!  I never really was interested in the 9/11 commemoratives, but your photos have made me think again. |

They seem a little contrived but just as coins (whoops, medals, they do medal flip) I like them. The work that went into giving them four different surface textures (5 if you count mirror) makes them stand out from most other mint products.  |

The design itself was a little too non-classical for me at the time but I've since changed my tune. I understand what's going on in it better these days. I suppose. I was absolutely all for 9/11 commemoratives but at the time of release this design didn't trip my trigger.
Love your close-ups of the surface treatments, clair.
I do think that many of the commemorative proofs in the past couple years have the 5-finish treatment. Pretty cool if you ask me.
