Anyone notice the laser Anti-Counterfeiting engraving on the Tooney and the Looney? Silver Proof sets don't normally have those, is that a mistake (not a Mint's first ), or this is the first time they added it to Silver Proof set (another Mint's first)?

Loonie looks the best to me simple and elegant

The loonie is my favourite as well. I suspect the anti-counterfeiting engraving will not be on the silver proof set loonie & toonie.

The coins not bad.
The 1967 issues looked better, cause were created within the same theme, they balanced each with other, and created by the artist.
The current set - chosen "here and there", designs supposedly drown by the public and selected by the voting.
My kid will like a Loonie - he is fan of trains and buses... I definitively like "Inuit" design of the beaver on 5c coin
$2 - not bad interconnection with Silver Dollar common theme
And unfortunately, the 50 cents piece has a design of token.

Hopefully kids will enjoy collecting the coins from their change, which can plant the seeds to later becoming involved in the hobby. It will be interesting to see the mintage of 2017 Uncirculated Sets. In 1967 it was 963,714 but I don't suppose there'll be quite that many.

The all but forgotten 50c wasn't included in the design voting.

That's a shame considering the 1967 design included a 50 cent piece.

Long wait. Big hype. I'm disappointed there's no 50 cent. Another beaver. Another maple leaf. I'm not sure what's going on in the sky on the toonie, but I've lived in Canada my whole life and haven't seen that. The northern lights in guessing? The loonie is pretty cool since the CN tower is displayed (Toronto is awesome).

There is 50c What the disappointment about? It wasn't probably shown at the unveil, cause hasn't been (probably) selected by voting. ADDED: I think, I know, why there was no 50c coin at unveil event - cause the unveil was regarding circulation coins, and probably not all the people in the event were knowing, that 50 cents coin exists. Very plain design, reminds the simple of the tokens

My email from rep shows "Canada's classic circulation coin designs will not be placed in circulation during this milestone year. Instead, the Royal Canadian Mint will reveal which of the five winning designs from My Canada, My Inspiration coin design contest will be featured on each denomination!"

All the 2017 circulation coinage will be released into circulation in 2017, similar to every year. But for some reason, RCM has already offered the 2017 Proof set up for sale (perhaps to improve their 2016 sales results) which will feature the new designs and is supposed to ship in December.

None of the new designs really appeal to me. If I was a vote on the best of the lot it would be the loonie and second the Toonie. To me the lower denominations looks like cheap art work

The coins are OK, not as good as the 1967 set. Not rushing out to get them. I wonder how many permutations we will see with the circulation coins. Will we have gold plated, 5 oz, coloured versions. etc.
