I wanted two because I have 2 voyageur coins. One from RCM and one from a coin dealer last year. The sets would be nice to continue as I have two sons. @redzapsid I spent almost $20,000. with RCM last cycle. This cycle I need a few more hundred to achieve platinum prestige again. So, 5,000.00 does not buy equality if 20,000 can't.

Spending $20,000 in one year at the RCM is hard for me to wrap my head around.

jimper I appreciate you sharing your experience (good fortune). It highlighted yet another issue with the RCM. Personally, I think if they took the orders, they should have fulfilled them or at the very least apologies to their customers for cancelling orders. It was their mistake, yet they blamed customers and/or simply didn't communicate anything; sadly they are trying to cover up a mistake. Pretty poor CS. Anyway, I suspect the error initially belongs to whomever set up the product parameters used by the website. They simply forgot to enter "limit of one" and restrict the ordering system. I'd say it's also some faulty code that is allowing 7 to be ordered by one person and not subsequently cancelled. I note that the orders with multiples (as shown a few pages back) contain other coins. And that the other coins appear first on the orders. In an attempt to identify customers who ordered more than one, a lazy programmer probably wrote a script to sum the number of item 153701 by customer but failed to have that script loop through the orders to the second and third lines. A script run like that would return only one library of Parliament ordered. Good luck jimper with disposing of your life's collection. You are likely doing what all of us should do eventually. Really, leaving it to heirs in most cases will be little more than a burden to them that they will sell for peanuts...unless they happen to be collectors.

If I was spending $20 000 at RCM I would be speaking to my reps supervisor if he couldn't get a couple of these and if that didn't work I would be spending between $5000 - $10000 at RCM and the rest at a dealer who I'm sure would get a couple of these for me if I was giving him or her $10 000+.

I have a rep, he emailed me and I ordered one. In his email there's no mention of any limit to order, nor did I ask. I noticed it was still available on the website, and there was no mention of any limits so I ordered another one. After I placed my order they changed the limit, so I have done nothing wrong. What reason would the mint have to cancel my order? Both are still processing.

Quote: What reason would the mint have to cancel my order? They have every right to cancel without reason since we all agree to these term by using the website, however, it is a pretty shady practice to cancel orders without notifying and apologizing to customers IMO. It's also a bit random in these cases. http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/about....WBOAiuQzXb0 Conditions of sale The Royal Canadian Mint reserves the right to refuse or limit orders, and to change its prices and product offerings without notice if, for any reason, it should be found necessary to do so. The Mint also reserves the right to impose purchase quantity limits on certain items.

Interesting, the last 2 - 2015 Voyageurs sold for $900 or more in the past 4 days (since release of 2016) on ebay. Only 5 active listings for the 2015 now with best deal just short of $900.

The demand increased. Some people, who missed the Voyageur, made effort to get the "Library" Dollar. And after was assured that they will get it - they tried to get the missed Voyageur. Same happened with Glass Ladybug, just the difference between amount of possible owners of Bumblebee and Ladybug is huge. Similar was with Mongolian Gulo-Gulo and Ural Owl. When the 1-st coin is popular by itself, and the second more easy to get (mintage and awareness factor), the first coin increases in value.

Quote: Is'nt it how all businesses work? Money Talks. The more money you spend the better they hear you. Yes, that is how "Businesses" works - I'm sure all those that are taking advantage of loopholes, and of others (which really, you are) are doing business properly, and claiming your income made from your coins on your taxes.... like a good Canadian. I do sympathize with the MC member that will be denied a coin for his collection because somebody else 'needs' to make a few bucks. Yet, I don't sympathize with any of the dribble of making it easier for those to buy more only to resell, either for profit or "just to reduce the cost of the one I'm keeping" - I think all the loopholes should be filled, and this 'flipping' nonsense should be stopped. Leave the business side of coin collecting to the local coin ships, they do it right, honestly, and legally. (let the arrows fly)

From one hand this is the capitalismus From another - many people haven't been raised on the "create", but on the "use". "This way I maintain my collection".....Oh, so sad. Go and earn without cheating on other people.

As long as money's involved there will be loopholes. I was merely stating that if you spent a lot of money at a dealer he will find loopholes for you and get what you want. And by the way I ordered one, I have no time to flip.

@New1954, If you are going to spend $20,000 a year on coins at the RCM, why don't you open multiple accounts. Split the $20,000 by opening another one with your wife or kids and then you have more opportunity to get additional coins. No sense in having one giant account as you have the same benefits with Platinum Plus at $5000 as you do with Prestige at $10,000. Also, if you are spending $20,000 a year on coins, what is $200 more to get a 2nd one on ebay if you really want one for your other kid.
