It's on the "Top-100" VAMS list.

"The Top 100 Morgan dollar varieties were published by Dr. Michael Fey and Jeff Oxman in 1996*. It was intended to re-focus collectors and dealers onto only the most significant VAMs known to overcome the problem of "micro-vamming" - aka the search for and collection of insignificant varieties."

Thanks, I'm trying to complete my CC Morgan collection. A few observations I've notice on heritage: there seems to be aggressive bidding for GSA ms-64's. While ms-65 plus GSA's tend to sit around on the site as unsold. Ms-62's tend not to get bid up as much. I keep getting out bid on those 64's even when trying to snipe them at the last second with cut-bids.

I would have to see the auctions .. my guess would be.

Most of the time there is a big price jump from 64 to 65.
So collectors will go for the 64's, because there cheaper
but still a nice looking coin.

They also might think they can resubmit a 64 with hope they might
get a 65.

The VAM 3 spitting eagle is just about the most common of premium added VAMs it is what we call a "gateway" VAM as it can be found easily, has cool look and cool name. There is a more rare spitting eagle with a far date obverse, VAM 7, so always check the date and don't assume that it's a VAM 3 just because you see the spot or because the label says it's a VAM 3. Yours is a normal date VAM 3 though.

Be warned. VAMming is VERY addictive
