Sacagawea Dollar Missing An Eye - Die Clash?

Bella57 Valued Member United States 97 Posts	Posted 12/20/2016 5:23 pm I have this Sacagawea 2000 D Dollar coin that has a blank spot where her left iris should be. There is some hair missing and the outline of her face, lips and shoulder are somewhat weak. I believe this was caused by a die clash correction. This coin is on the right in the first picture. I've compared it to an overlay and I think I see some of the clash marks on the reverse of the coin. There is an arc starting with the I in PLURIBUS arcing up to the first A in AMERICA. I think this is the clash of her shoulder. I also see a circle with a dot in the middle that I believe to be her earring SE of the M in UNUM. 65silverdime New Member United States 38 Posts	Posted 04/27/2020 11:18 am You are correct, die clash happens in that exact area and the mint Buff's the coin smooth again. If you had caught it before the buffing you would see the die clash. Also happens under neck as well and lower parts of the coin are the higher parts of the die. Report this Post to the Staff
